There has been a lot of DRAMA surrounding the Blue Velveteen subscription box. It started as a box that looked like it may rival Birchbox in its theme and price.

After some initial issues, a lot of people (including a bunch of bloggers) received a September box and were cautiously optimistic about the box.

However, I can say with all certainty that the optimism is gone now. It seems like the lady that started Blue Velveteen has shut down communication on all social media sites and has essentially stolen people’s money.

Needless to say, people are PISSED. I never signed up for this box but I had heard of communication issues with the company the past few weeks so I had been paying attention. (This is what pro bloggers do.) At one point I tweeted to the owner to ask if the rumors of the company going under were true and she actually responded and said no.

However, their main webpage is still up and running and taking credit card info!!!!!!!!!!!! I won’t link to it because NO. She doesn’t need the additional traffic.

A Facebook group has been created for those that have gotten scammed by Blue Velveteen. They are essentially building a case for the police/FBI for Internet fraud. If you are one of the unlucky Blue Velveteen early adopters, I’d recommend joining. But first, go to your bank and dispute any charges from BV. You may also want to delete the card from your account info on the BV site if you are one of the unlucky first subscribers.

We subscription box lovers love to try new boxes and it’s a shame that there are people out there who will take advantage of us! I feel like this chick got in over her head with subscribers and subsequent issues with so many subscribers but simply erasing everything like it never existed and being dishonest is not the way to go. We are all human and we make mistakes. I think if she was more upfront about the issues people would have understood. Most were out $10. But because of her dishonesty, there will likely be criminal charges pressed against her which is kind of a bummer, but she deserves it at this point.

A self-proclaimed beauty junkie/hoarder with a serious Sephora problem. After years with Birchbox, she now has a subscription box problem as well. Her free time is a mixed combination of cats, TV, and finally trying to figure out how to do her hair.
