I was excited when Jill alerted me at 6am last week about the newest Target Beauty Box. I like that about Jill. Everyone needs friends who will wake you up with important things you need to buy. And then after Jill told me about it, I told y’all about it. Because I like y’all that much. To get more awesome subscription box info delivered right your inbox, sign up for our email list! This month’s Target Beauty Box was $5 and contained a box of L’Oreal products. This box is no longer available as most Target beauty boxes sell out quickly. (Hence signing up for emails for the alerts! OK, I’ll stop now. You get it.)
Here’s what they sent!
L’Oreal Voluminous Original Mascara ($5.39)
I have definitely tried this mascara in the past (I especially loved their “Carbon Black” version but it has been awhile since I tried it so I was looking forward to trying it again. This is my friend Melissa’s fave mascara so I wanted to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised. Normally, I prefer the rubber bristles because I find they give me more definition but I definitely got a lot of volume and length out of this. I’m still not convinced this will replace my Roller Lash, but it might go in my work makeup bag for touch-ups.
L’Oreal Total Repair 5 Restoring Shampoo ($7.99)
I’ve actually bought the full-size version of this and while I sort of liked it, it also kind of made my hair a bit TOO smooth. I know some people like that and look for that but I am always looking for more volume. However, there are some days where I go for a more sleek look (which is exceptionally easy for my hair type) so in that case, I would go for a shampoo like this. And I’d probably do that while I’m traveling because of the ease so this is going in my travel bag.
L’Oreal Elnett Satin Extra Strong Hold ($12.59)
This was the whole reason I bought this box! I love Elnett hairspray, as do pro hairstylists all over! And while I’m not a pro, I sure do love it. I have a big can but I love to have a smaller one so I can travel. A travel size version of this hairspray is $6.50 which is more than this whole box. Bargain!
They also sent a few foil packet samples: L’Oreal Smooth Intense shampoo and conditioner, L’Oreal Revitalift Serum and Cream, and a L’Oreal True Match foundation matcher + coupon. They also included a little tester that shows you if you need L’Oreal’s Age Perfect Cell Renewal products. Basically it’s a piece of tape that will show if you have dead skin on your face. You probably do.
But their biggest addition is the $5 coupon to spend at Target on a $20 Target beauty purchase. I can think of like 25 things I could get in the Target beauty section right now (like the Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer! That stuff is seriously magic! And I also need a new shampoo!) so this will definitely come in handy.
Final Grade: A
This month’s Target Beauty Box had a huge value for just $5! And you get a $5 coupon so this basically pays for itself. I’m fired up about having my hairspray in travel form and an extra full-size mascara is not too shabby.
