I feel like I just wrote about the Allure Beauty Box and that’s because I kind of did. But here we are for the January box!
Price: $15.00/month
Box Type: Monthly beauty box featuring 6 high end beauty product samples (and sometimes full-sized products!).
Why you’ll love it: Top brands, great price, new products that you will love! A great way to sample expensive products without committing to the price tag. Each box comes with an Allure mini-magazine that showcases each product and is as quality as you’d expect from a magazine powerhouse like Allure.
So let’s see what we got!
This is a LOT of stuff this month!
Biobelle Facial Mask in #IWokeUpLikeThis ($4.99 each): I’m always going to love a good sheet mask. I haven’t used this one yet but it has some amazing ingredients like Wild Rose and Vitamin C that help skin look clearer and brighter. I’m going to try this on Sunday. (Matt, you’ve been warned.)
Sigma E70 Medium Angled Shading Brush ($16): I’ve been watching a LOT of YouTube videos lately. I’ve watched some beauty YouTubers before but I was only dabbling. This time, I’ve completely immersed myself. I now have a few favorites that I’ll share in a future blog but what I’ve learned so much from them already is how important BRUSHES are. I mean, I thought I knew about brushes and I am just learning SO MUCH. And they are always using Sigma and Morphe brushes in all of their tutorials. And this brush is so soft and beautiful – I love the travel size so I can throw it in my gym bag! (I always say I’m going to “throw things in my gym bag” like I have one giant bag full of random products when in fact I have a tote bag with 4 smaller bags inside, carefully separating all of my toiletries.)
Burt’s Bees Lipstick in Blush Basin ($8.99): I was really excited to see a full-sized lipstick in the box, in a natural, rosy hue that is really wearable and comfortable. I know it’s not a high-end brand but I hadn’t ever tried this lipstick before, so I was glad to try it! (And I do NOT discriminate between drugstore and prestige lipsticks. I have a shoebox full of both to prove it.)
Swatch of Burt’s Bee’s Lipstick in Blush Basin
Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion ($79): I’m going to be honest, this isn’t one of my favorite brands. I always think the samples they send are almost empty (like that tube will hardly have anything in it, so you think you are going to get a few uses out of it and you can barely get anything out of the tube) and the products are so expensive that I don’t end up buying them. That said, I’ll squeeze out the last bits of this and use the hell out of it!
Doucce Freematic Eye Shadow ($35): In theory, I should really like this. I definitely like the idea- the palette is magnetic, and you are able to swap out shadows. If you click the link to buy it yourself, you actually get to choose the four shadows to include and there are 82 to choose from! I just didn’t love the formula! I’m used to much softer shades that are easier to blend and these just weren’t my favorites. After watching so many YouTube videos, I have been getting more into powder eyeshadows again (after being obsessed with Colourpop Super Shock Shadows for years and years) so I might play around with these and see if I like them more. I also thought the plum shade would be more plum and it turned out to be kind of reddish. I don’t hate it, it just seemed weird.
Oscar Blandi Pronto Dry Shampoo Invisible Spray ($25): Ummmm, can we pretend that the invisible spray made the bottle invisible? I forgot to take a picture of it by itself, but you can see it in the picture with all the products! I’ve tried this in the past and I just didn’t love it! But I have a friend that loves this stuff so I’m going to send it to her!
Final Grade: A
I thought this was such a great Allure Beauty Box! I thought the curation of products was especially great this month. I was so excited to get a Sigma brush and a full-size pretty lipstick from Burt’s Bees. I also loved the idea of the Doucce eye shadow magnetic palette and I’m going to see if I can create a fun eye look. I love a dry shampoo and I think it’s great Allure included one from Oscar Blandi, even though I don’t personally love it. And for $15, the box was worth $80. I mean, WOW. I heart Allure Beauty Box!
