Y’all know how much I love the Allure Beauty Box and I’m a bit bummed I was “On a Break” when this box dropped because I think this is the best box I’ve ever received from them! Additionally, they sent me another lil gift for being a loyal subscriber, and it was…really nice. Keep reading to find out what I got!
Price: $15.00/month
Box Type: Monthly beauty box featuring 6 high end beauty product samples (and sometimes full-sized products!).
Why you’ll love it: Top brands, great price, new products that you will love! A great way to sample expensive products without committing to the price tag. Each box comes with an Allure mini-magazine that showcases each product and is as quality as you’d expect from a magazine powerhouse like Allure.

I think it’s awesome that they worked with Nikkietutorials on this box because after watching many of her videos, I think she’s got great taste! She’s introduced me to a variety of makeup but most importantly, she introduced me to Juvia’s Place, which is an amazing, black-owned, affordable makeup brand. More on that in a bit!
As usual, the Mini-Mag discusses all of the products in the box in the typical Allure Editor fashion.
And here’s everything we got this month! See– like I said. Best box yet.
Juvia’s Place Nubian Mini Eyeshadow Palette ($10): As I referenced earlier, Juvia’s Place is an exceptional makeup brand. I have several of their eyeshadow palettes. The formula is incredible, and better than high-end, in my opinion, but really affordably-priced. Some brands sacrifice their formula when they make smaller palettes (I’m looking at you, Natasha Denona. Shame.) But this lil palette is exactly the same formula as their larger palettes. In the old days of, you know, 2017, you could only buy Juvia’s Place online, but now, you can buy their palettes in most Ulta stores, so you can test the formula in-person. How lovely it is to live in the future! I have my eye on incorporating this palette in my February Shop My Stash.
Most of these pictures are just showing off how good my new camera lens is and nothing more. Sorry but also not sorry. 🙂
These swatches are just so beautiful! The formula is gorgeous. You are doing yourself a disservice if you love eyeshadow and haven’t tried Juvia’s Place!
OFRA x Nikkietutorials Everglow Highlighter ($35): Nikkie released this highlighter with Ofra in 2017, I think? Later on, she released the three shades separately, which I think was a great idea. The three shades themselves are great because no matter what your skin tone is, you will be able to use at least one of the highlighter shades.
However, the downside is that you will basically only be able to use one of the shades. YouTubers always say, “Oh, you can use the other shades as eyeshadow!” But I think I’ve only done that one time? However, I do have to admit that these shades are really beautiful and that deep bronze shade really would make a gorgeous shadow. See swatches below. I do think I’m going to start using the lightest shade (I think that was Glazed Donut, which is the best name ever!) next month in my Shop My Stash!
LASplash Art-ki-Tekt Waterproof Slim Eyeliner ($14): I have to admit that I don’t use liquid liner very often because I have hooded lids, so I’m not the cat-eye wing kind of girl. But I do occasionally use it when I wear falsies to help them blend into the lash line. I don’t think I had ever heard of this brand before but the line seemed black enough and the felt tip seemed fine. I admit, I haven’t used it on my eyes yet, but I’m probably going to hold onto it.
When I was taking pictures of these products, my Diva Cat, Franklin, hopped up on my photo setup and would not leave. So that’s how close he was when I took the picture above. 🙂 And that is also why he is the background of the picture below.
NYX Professional Makeup Lip Lingerie in Cabaret Show ($6.99): This was surprisingly the first time I had ever used a NYX Lip Lingerie. I haven’t been into liquid lipsticks for awhile but this one was surprisingly not too uncomfortable (which is the highest compliment for a matte liquid lipstick), plus, I really love the color. It’s very 90s grungy. I think it’s a little deeper, and possibly a bit pinker, than The One Who Will Not Be Named’s liquid lipstick in Lolita. And since I won’t ever buy Lolita again, this is a great (not to mention less expensive) option. As a bonus, I REALLY liked the applicator. The tip made it really easy to apply without a liner.
Bliss The Real Peel Brighten ($16): I’ve been dealing with a skin issue (OK, I picked at my skin. Don’t do it, kids!) so I haven’t wanted to use a product like this because I feel like it would be more irritating. I didn’t realize it until I looked at the product page, but this mask is shimmery. It’s meant to cash in on that stupid Glitter Mask trend, which is so stupid. Glitter and shimmer is not really helpful in skincare. It’s a gimmick for Instagram pictures, and I would never purchase such a product myself. However, this peel off mask does claim to awaken tired skin and improve texture for a more even, brilliant complexion. It contains Vitamin C and pumpkin enzyme to for a smooth and bright appearance. Like I said, I would never buy this myself but since I do own this now, I will try it out to see what I think.
Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloth Singles ($5.99): OK. This is one of the dumbest and most wasteful products I have ever seen. I admit, I use these kinds of makeup wipes to remove eye makeup knowing they aren’t great for the environment. But it’s like Neutrogena said, “Hold my beer,” and made the wipes even MORE wasteful by individually wrapping them. Who asked for that? Who needs it? Is a pack of wipes that difficult to pack so they need to individually wrap them? I have personally taken a few wipes with me by putting them into a plastic baggie. Easy. I’ll use this because it’s a good wipe and I now own it, but this whole situation is very stupid, and I am glad I had the chance to rant about it.
And now for the bonus gift that Allure sent me separately! In all seriousness, if Allure continues sending me bonus gifts like this, they will have a subscriber for life! In the past, they have sent Marc Jacobs, Baublebar and now Drunk Elephant! It’s like having a friend that sends fun gifts every now and then – and that friend has great taste and isn’t cheap. So, thank you, Allure. I appreciate you. Now and forevermore, it seems. 🙂
Drunk Elephant TLC Sukari Babyfacial ($80) and Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream ($60): Jill and I have long sung the praises of Babyfacial – it’s a chemical exfoliant, versus rubbing rough particles or a brush all over your face. And it’s even great for sensitive skin – Jill has the most sensitive skin ever and she swears by this stuff. In terms of the Lala Retro Whipped Cream, it’s great for dry skin. I’m even using it on the part of the skin I picked at to help keep it moisturized and smooth. Both of these are bigger than deluxe samples and should last awhile.
Final Grade: A+
Like I said before, I think this is the best box Allure has ever sent. They sent a Juvia’s Place palette and a full-sized Ofra highlighter. Need I say more? If you are interested in subscribing to Allure (and potentially getting fun, free gifts!), click here for my referral link!
The Allure Box was purchased. The Drunk Elephant products were sent as a gift.
