Each month, Ipsy subscribers will receive a beautiful Glam Bag with deluxe samples and full-sized beauty products. Members can watch and play along with the stylists with the same products that they are using. All for only $10 a month.
The hot pink mailer tells you that it’s finally Ipsy Time:
Each month, the bag has a theme and the theme for September is Street Style. A cool thing about Ipsy is that they send you a makeup bag each month and I really like this month’s: gunmetal grey with punk rock studs. Sometimes I save these bags for my niece but I’m definitely keeping this one.
Inside, I received these products:
The very first thing I did was swatch and try on the Art Touch tinted lip gloss in Cailyn. This is a color I’ve been looking for this season. It’s not nearly as dark on as it looks in the tube. It’s a beautiful berry color that seems to have a bit of staying power. I will be wearing this to my bachelorette party. Pardon my raggedy looks but I tried the lip gloss on at the end of a long day, so you’ll just have to bear with me.
The next product I was excited to try was the Mitchell and Peach hand lotion. I love getting travel sized hand creams in boxes so I can keep them in my purse. The scent is called “Flora No. 1” and it doesn’t exactly smell floral to me. It smells almost woodsy. I’m not a professional “nose” so I’m sure I’m missing some notes but I would describe it as a “darker” scent. The lotion itself is decently moisturizing, which is ultimately what I look for in a lotion so it will definitely find a place in my purse.
I’m interested to try the Nourish Organic Moisturizing Cream Face Cleanser. The packaging says it is 100% Natural, USDA-certified Organic and is also “Chemical Free, Cruelty Free, Concern Free.” It contains Aloe Vera, Cucumber, and Watercress. This seems like something that will be great for my skin when it’s dry in the winter.
I was also pleasantly surprised to receive a really high quality looking eye shadow brush. When I first pulled it out of the bag I didn’t realize it was double ended, which is kind of cool. I like those kinds of brushes, especially for traveling. The brand is called Crown brush, which I had never heard of before. I couldn’t find the exact brush on their site but it looks like it would retail for around $12. I’m always looking for new eyeshadow brushes as I’m sometimes lazy and don’t wash my brushes as often as I should. I’ll be using this with my Naked 2 palette.
The last item in the bag is the Pacifica eyeliner in “gunmetal.” At first glance and before I looked at the name, it looked like a grey eyeliner which I thought was kind of odd. I think I wore grey eyeliner when I was in middle school and thought that was a good idea. It wasn’t. But this gunmetal shade looks very wearable. Darker than grey, and the shimmer gives it some depth but it doesn’t look as obvious as silver.
If I had to grade this bag, I would give it an A+. I’ve always loved Ipsy bags, but I’m not sure I’ve ever received a bag where I’m definitely going to use all of the products they sent me. However, I’ve been reviewing and giving feedback each month so I’m hoping that they are listening to my preferences and I’ll receive products like these every month from now on!
