I’m just going to come out and say it – PopSugar Must Have is the box I most look forward to getting in the mail each month, and the Special Edition boxes feel like Christmas morning. I obsessively track my shipment and scour the internet for any spoilers or speculation about what might be in store for me.
The SE Fall 2014 box was no exception. I knew exactly what was inside before I opened it – and I was stoked. A Marchesa scarf, a Joie hat, a gorgeous lipstick, AND perfume! Jackpot.
Ok, let’s do this. The first thing I pulled out was the piece I was the most excited about – THE JOIE HAT.
It is every bit as lovely as I had hoped. It’s a cashmere/wool blend, so it’s soft, light, and happens to be a really nice color for darker hair. There’s just one thing I forgot about in my excitement. My gigantic head. I didn’t take a picture, but I assure you I look comical in this thing. I will sadly have to gift it to my sister (whose head fits in normal hats).
Next up: Marchesa scarf! This ended up being my favorite item in the box. I was a little iffy about it when I saw photos online, but in person it’s gorgeous and light. I am a total scarf girl and I have a scarf for any weather. This is perfect for fall, it’s lightweight and flowy. My only gripe would be that it is 100% rayon, and for Marchesa (even Marchesa Voyage) that seems odd.
Not much to say about the next item, other than it didn’t last long. It may or may not have been my lunch that day, and it may or may not have been delicious.
I was a little surprised when I saw that they included a Make lipstick in the SE box because I don’t really consider them a luxury brand, and so I wasn’t expecting much when I opened the top to find the lipstick all smushed inside.
Good thing a little squished lipstick never hurt anyone, because it turns out the only thing I love more than being pleasantly surprised is how awesome I look in this color:
In my quest for spoilers I discovered that the Byway Capsule perfume was a little on the sweet side and that it was inspired by a lap dance (I’m as confused by that as you are). What I didn’t realize was that I would smell like a cotton candy machine after just one spritz. Sweet is an understatement, this scent can give you a cavity. I can see myself wearing this occasionally (perfume is like handbags to me, there’s always room for one more), but I don’t think this scent is for everyone.
The last item in this box is one I will be gifting. I’m sure at some point I will write about washing my face with oil and how it’s not as disgusting as it sounds, but for now suffice it to say I am very selective about face wash, even the posh stuff.
People rave about the Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser, and I wish my skin wasn’t so finicky because I’d love to try it out. Unfortunately this one will end up in my mom’s Xmas stocking, and I know she’ll love it. Ether way, it’s a high-end item that is fitting for a luxury box.
All in all this was a great box. The total value of the items totaled over $300, and I grabbed it for $100. I’m giving this box an official B rating, mostly because I have a huge head and am gifting some of the big ticket items. Can’t wait to see what the Winter 2014 Special Edition has in it!

Don’t put oil on your face, Jill.
What’s that nail polish you’ve got on? I love it.
That’s Cynthia by Julep! It’s one of my favorites!
