Today I received my first Sunset 45 Little Luxuries Box. From their site, this is what Sunset 45 is all about:
THE LITTLE LUXURIES BOX
Keep up with the latest at a phenomenal price. Every month’s box follows a new runway trend and comes filled to the brim with outfit-making accessories and beauty products. The Little Luxuries Box is a great way to expand on your closet’s repertoire without breaking the bank. And it’s also a fun way for women to challenge and refine their personal style each month!
EXPERIENCE A UNIQUE STYLING SERVICE.
We believe that luxury and exclusivity go hand in hand. Unlike other subscription box programs, we don’t send out the same, generic box to everyone. There are 4-5 unique combinations with each month’s trend so you’ll always be surprised with your little luxuries.
GO CLASSIC OR GET LAVISH.
Choose between two distinct Boxes, the Classics and the Lavish Box. Whether your style is opulent or more conservative, we select the perfect pieces for you to indulge in every month.
I decided to take a risk and choose the Lavish box versus the Classics box. I tend to be fairly conservative in some of my jewelry and I want to take more risks so I thought this would be a good way to try some new things I wouldn’t normally pick for myself.
This month’s theme was South by Southwestern. Sunset 45 takes trends from the runways and translates them into looks you can wear every day. I’ll be honest, this theme is not my favorite. There is a lot of gold in this box and there are some earrings that look a little bit “on the nose” but in general, I do like the idea of having a theme and sending me a collection, versus just a random collection of junk.
For $30, they sent me a scarf, necklace and 3 pairs of earrings. I don’t LOVE them all but I like several of the pieces and they feel like they are decent quality. This isn’t Tiffany’s but this is decent costume jewelry, which is what I was expecting.
This necklace was my favorite piece they sent. It’s gold which isn’t my usual, but I was trying to get out of my usual. I can tell it goes with the theme but it doesn’t hit you over the head with it. I can see myself wearing it with a black shirt and feeling a little more hip than usual.
These earrings are pretty cute, too. I don’t have a ton of gold so these studs will be great to wear with every day things. I like pairing turquoise when I wear purple and I think these could go with a variety of outfits.
These are the earrings I do not care for at all. They are very “I Live On A Ranch” and even though I live in Texas, I do not live on a ranch. My friend Ashley basically does live on a ranch and she wouldn’t even wear these earrings. They are hitting you over the head with that South by Southwestern theme and almost seem to be unwearable in the real world. However, if they include a pair of statement earrings that AREN’T southwestern themed in future boxes, that will help me expand my earring game.
The last item they included was the scarf. It has elements from saddles on it, but it’s mostly grey and light red and could be worn with almost anything. You’d have to get really close to be able to see the specific pattern so I think I could wear it with a lot of things. Definitely a denim jacket.
I’m going to give Sunset 45 a B- for myfirst box. I like the fact that the box is thoughtfully curated with a theme each month, though I certainly would not care for this South by Southwestern box EVERY month. I definitely got a few things I would never have picked out for myself so I’m looking forward to incorporating them into my wardrobe. I won’t be incorporating those huge earrings anywhere and might have them for awhile til I can find someone to give them to. If you are interested in subscribing, click here!
I LOVE that necklace. I can’t say that South by Southwestern would be my first choice for a monthly theme either. I would have liked to see them stick with the turquoise but go a little more subtle on some pieces. Either way, I think you get a decent bit for the money!
Yeah the theme was weird but I’m curious to see what they send next!
This made me laugh. Full time ranch living in 2015.
