Several years ago, I discovered my first Vitamin C serum. As of that time, I knew Vitamin C was great for your body but I didn’t really understand how great it could be for your face. When I looked at pictures of myself around that time, I noticed that my skin was positively GLOWING! And we all know how I feel about glowy skin. I need it MORE MORE MORE. So I’ve been excitedly trying out new Vitamin C serums since then.
Working with Brandbacker, Radha Beauty kindly sent me their Vitamin C Serum for review. In addition to that, they also sent me their Miracle Retinol Moisturizer and Intensive Youth Eye Gel. I’ve been using these products for the past few weeks to get a feel of how they work on my skin so now I can finally review them for you!
- Radha Beauty Vitamin C Serum: As you can probably tell, I was most excited about trying this serum! First, I want to tell you why Vitamin C is so important for your skin. It supports natural collagen production, it brightens your skin and help even out any dark spots, and it helps reduce skin damage caused by environmental factors. Serums are a powerful part of any skincare routine because they will deliver more potent ingredients quickly. I have never had a huge acne problem per se but every now and then I will get a MAJOR zit (Come on! I’m in my 30’s! When will it end?!) and then I spend weeks and weeks trying to get that spot to fade. Since I’ve been using this serum, I have found that my skin looks a little more even overall, which i like! In the past, serums I have used have felt more like gels, but this one is a bit more liquid-y. This isn’t a bad thing, just something to note. One pump from the bottle will give you enough for your whole face and part of your neck so you won’t ever be wasting product. This serum also contains Hyaluronic Acid, which you might be hearing about a lot lately. Here is some info about Hyaluronic Acid from Dr. Oz’s blog:
“Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring polysaccharide (carbohydrate) in the human body. It’s present in large amounts in the spaces between skin cells, where it provides moisture, plumpness, firmness and suppleness to the skin.
Know how a baby’s skin always looks so deliciously dewy and pillowy? It’s because babies are born with a high level of hyaluronic acid, which keeps their skin plump and smooth. Unfortunately, the amount of hyaluronic acid in skin diminishes with age, most significantly after age 40.
While you’re never going to get back that perfectly dewy baby-skin, it is possible to help restore the skin’s hyaluronic acid content and give grown-up skin a younger, fresher, more supple look. One way to do it is through hyaluronic acid fillers, which a dermatologist or plastic surgeon injects directly into sunken or wrinkled areas to plump them up.
The other way to help plump up skin is to use a serum or moisturizer that contains hyaluronic acid. While it won’t give you the dramatic, instantaneous results that a hyaluronic acid filler can, you will see benefits in the form of softer, smoother, more hydrated skin.
Applied topically, it increases hydration, improves elasticity and also reverses free radical damage, so it may have some benefit in protecting from UV damage. Bonus? Hyaluronic acid is one ingredient that works across the board. Every skin type, even oily, can benefit. Look for hyaluronic acid serums and apply one alone if you have oily skin or under moisturizer if you have dry skin.”
My skin always feels smooth and healthy after I use the Radha Beauty Vitamin C Serum and I totally recommend it.
- Miracle Retinol Moisturizer: I’m actually trying to think if I have ever really used a product that contains Retinol before and I’m not entirely sure I have so I wasn’t sure what to expect. What I really liked about this moisturizer is that it wasn’t greasy at all. It went on very smoothly and it absorbed really quickly. I also really love the packaging of this product. It might not be great for travel but it’s something that would look nice and expensive on your vanity. 🙂 The product website says this about it:
This concentrated serum is formulated with a 2.5% Retinol Complex that provides both immediate and long term release to promote radiant skin. It supports natural cell turnover to improve skin texture and tone. The appearance of lines, wrinkles, and enlarged pores is softened, revealing new skin with a youthful glow.
Wrinkles aren’t a HUGE problem for me right now so I can’t really speak to how it reduces lines and wrinkles but I do know that my skin felt moisturized and healthy when I used this and it also wore well under makeup. I didn’t feel like I was wearing a thousand layers of skin care, even though I kind of was.
- Intensive Youth Eye Gel: I’m notoriously picky when it comes to eye creams and gels. In my experience, gels have always made my skin feel tight and maybe some people like their skin around their eyes to feel tight but that drives me crazy. Luckily, the Intenstive Youth Eye Gel doesn’t make my skin feel tight at all. It just feels very moisturized, which I love. The product site claims that it helps with eye bags, dark circles and puffiness, but I don’t really have too much experience with any of those issues so I can’t speak to how the product works there. However, I will say that it was very moisturizing and it left my eye area smooth and ready for makeup. Also, a little goes a long way and they say you can use it on the rest of your face, too.
Final Grade: A
I have REALLY enjoyed testing out this skincare system. The serum is great and leaves skin glowing, the moisturizer is light but contains powerful ingredients and the eye gel is moisturizing.
I originally received these products from Amazon but I don’t see that they are available now so I have linked to the brand’s site throughout the review if you are interested in trying the products. To learn more about the brand itself, check out: http://radhabeautyproducts.com/
I have also received several essential oils from Radha Beauty. I’m getting more into the “Essential Oil Game” as some might call it (who calls it that?) I am going to see how their oils hold up! So keep an eye out for that.
xo,
Lauren
