Friday Favorites: It’s House Time!

Today is a big deal in the Guzmans’ Life as we are closing on our first house!!! Yay! We built a house with David Weekley Homes and the process went soooo smoothly and I would highly recommend them as a builder to anyone. We could not be more thrilled with how everything went!

Now comes the fun part! Decorating! When Matt and I move in, we aren’t going to immediately be able to furnish our home the exact way we want to. We are going to take a little while to build our savings back up so for awhile, our brand new, beautiful house will have our old, ratty, cat scratched furniture in it. Womp, womp. But this is OK because it gives us time to figure out the PERFECT furniture for us. Here are some of my inspirations!

We have a big open living room area so we think we want a big, wrap around couch. We are also pretty sure we want a grey couch. I love this one!

This couch looks slightly less modern but so cozy!

I really love this couch but I am also really interested in an area rug like this.

I also like the idea of small pops of yellow. I have a huge sunflower painting that I inherited from my grandparents that I believe we will hang in our dining room and so I want to figure out how to tie some of those colors in with my living room.

We have this HUGE open wall in our living room that we hope to put built in bookshelves in someday. Something like this! I can’t WAIT to have all that storage! But… of course, this will probably take a few years til we can cross this one off of my wish list. 🙂

We also are going to need a new dining room table. I have a nice kitchen table but it will look very strange in our fancy dining room so while this isn’t priority #1, it’s something I’m thinking about. I really like this table itself. I would obviously want chairs in one color. I’m thinking the cream color but I’m wary about how to clean that.

I also love this table from World Market. It looks kind of industrial but also kind of modern, and I like that.

One of the best features of our house is that we have a HUGE outside covered patio with a fireplace. We are going to be spending a lot of time out there– we even have it wired for cable! –so it’s going to be extra important that we have some nice furniture out there, too! I just showed this set to Matt and he really likes it. And it seems like a great deal at $899. So we might be getting this set sooner rather than later.
