Every now and then, there is a song that I just cannot stop listening to and I will listen over and over and over and over again until I… listen to it more. I’m not sure I’ve ever gotten tired of a song that way. Matt isn’t as pleased with this habit as I am as he gets tired of the songs I listen to after the first listen. But I wanted to share my favorite song of the moment right now, which is actually a cover of America by Simon and Garfunkel by First Aid Kit.

It’s a song I love so much already and their pure voices and harmonies just kill me. As of this blog, I’ve probably listened to it 10 times… today.

While I’m on First Aid Kit. I’ll share with you my other favorite song by them that isn’t a cover called Emmylou. I introduced this song to my uncle and he and I danced to it at my wedding.

Moving on from First Aid Kit, one of my favorite bands of the moment is Bleachers. I love their song Wild Heart. It sort of reminds me of a song that might play in a John Hughes movie where everyone is coming together at the end.

I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention hometown hero, Leon Bridges. He’s doing Motown. NOW. In a way that makes motown sound current. And his voice sounds like silk. A few of my friends play with his band but he’s doing insanely well on a national level. He was invited to the Met Ball. THE MET BALL. You know, the one that Beyonce and co. go to. I haven’t met Leon myself, but I am super proud of his success. I also heard one of his songs on the background on American Idol. It’s only a matter of time before he’s performing on these shows as the musical guest!

I was going to only post one of his videos and then I changed my mind. Here’s Leon Bridges with Better Man.

This song “Excuses” by The Morning Benders was my “repeat” song several years ago and I randomly heard it again recently and it bears sharing with all of you because it’s so beautiful.

I hope you enjoyed listening to some of my current favorite tunes! Let me know if this is something you’d like to see (and hear!) again!

xo,

Lauren
