I’m so sorry that it’s taken me so long to write about my May Birchbox! This month was a collaboration with Emily Schuman of Cupcakes and Cashmere. I have been a long time reader of Cupcakes and Cashmere and if I could type a praise hands emoji in WordPress, I would. I would probably hate her if I didn’t like her so much. She has an awesome lifestyle/fashion type blog and she also just had an adorable baby. One of my favorite tips of hers that I love is to have a different, dark towel for when you wash your face. So you don’t get mascara stains on your fancy white towels. Such a great idea!
But let’s discuss her curated Birchbox! Once again, Birchbox is killing it with the box designs. In case you’re just now joining us, Birchbox is a $10/month beauty subscription box loosely put together based on a beauty quiz you fill out upon signing up. Birchbox has several different box variations so the box you get may differ from mine.
Here are the products they included this month! This Wei Kakadu Plum Brightening Sugar Mask is very interesting because most of the masks that I have experienced are smooth but this one is made with raw sugar which helps exfoliate and the vitamin-rich plum helps to fade dark spots.
This Cynthia Rowley Cream Lip Stain is the first thing I grabbed out of my box and immediately put on. It looks great with my coloring and is a great neutral color for work. I like the small size of it because it easily fits in my pocket for touch ups but it’s a longer wearing formula so you don’t need to do that much anyway. Love this!
I am going to hang onto this CoTZ Flawless Complexion SPF 50. It’s not a perfect match for my skin but if I were to wear it to the pool or something it wouldn’t be super noticeable that the color wasn’t exact. However, I don’t think this is waterproof, so if you are actually going in the pool, which is not exactly how I go to the pool, you’ll want to wear a waterproof sunscreen all over. I prefer to sit near the pool and dip my feet in so my face usually stays dry.
I totally forgot I had this Aruba Aloe Luxe Foot Creme. I am going to save this for after a really hard day and put this on in the evening. This seems so luxurious. Maybe I will put it on after a bath. My life is so hard.
This amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo is my second favorite product from this month’s box. I received this from my friend Beth from Beeju Boxes when she treated me to some products she’s gotten in boxes and I really loved it. So I was really excited to get more. I now have one at work and home. Perfect. I love that it gives me the volume that I love and crave. I NEED MORE. MORE MORE MORE. (Also, if you are interested in Asian boxes, you should check out Beth’s blog. She is basically the encyclopedia of Asian snack and beauty boxes and I love reading her blog. At some point, when I get my shit together, we are going to guest post on each other’s blogs and that will be way fun. Til then, here’s her blog!)
Final Grade: A
This is one of my favorite Birchboxes in a while, product-wise. I love the Cynthia Rowley lip gloss and the Amika dry shampoo. I’ll definitely try the Wei Sugar Mask and the Aruba Aloe Foot Creme as well. Birchbox can occasionally be hit or miss but I’m happy with this month. They also have a reward system that can’t be beat. You earn points by reviewing products and referring friends and those points add up fast and = money for products on their site. Win/Win.

Next time I get any tiny soaps or Amika dry shampoo, I’ll be sure to send them your way. <3
For the record, I only love the Erno Laszlo tiny soaps, not all tiny soaps. 😀 I’m discriminatory with my tiny soaps. But I sure do love that Amika dry shampoo! <3
