It’s the best time of the month, Popsugar time! Lauren and I both subscribe to the Popsugar Must Have box and get equally excited about it each month. If you’re not familiar with Popsugar, it’s a monthly box that sends you an awesome mix of beauty and lifestyle products for $39.99. It’s one of our favorite subscription boxes, but we generally have different opinions about the contents each month. For that reason, we will take turns talking about everything inside! Joint blogs are the best blogs.

I just got back from my honeymoon and came home to a heap of subscription boxes, but of course tore into the Popsugar box first! I had managed to avoid spoilers because I was out of the country, which NEVER happens because I tend to lose patience and aggressively google for spoilers all month long. I guess weddings are a good distraction from ruining the surprise for myself, maybe I should have them more often (just kidding, bank account).

The Popsugar bounty.

This month’s Popsugar box was inspired by “sun-kissed, soft skin, papaya, outdoor fun, coconut, and yoga warrior”. I have no idea how half of these are relevant to the actual box, but it’s cool. The box is awesome so that’s all that matters. Let’s get to it, shall we?

Quay Australia Mandate Sunglasses – $45

Jill: This was the one spoiler that was emailed to everyone who is subscribed. I wasn’t thrilled with the fact that they included what appeared to be knock-offs of cheap movie theater 3D shades, but I’ve learned that with Popsugar, you have to be patient and see what things are like in person. As usual, I was pleasantly surprised with these. They’re trendy, flattering, and sturdy.

Lauren: Unlike Jill, I was really excited for these sunglasses. This style typically looks good on me but these are just slightly too big for my face. I’m sad because I was hoping these could be my sunglasses for the summer! But I have been looking for a pair of sunglasses for Matt for a long time because he just squints in the sun. These glasses seem to be pretty unisex to me and he looks really good in them! So we have success!

Judy Blume’s In the Unlikely Event, Hardcover – $27.95

Jill: I was so excited to see this in the bottom of my box!! First of all, who among us doesn’t have fond childhood memories of Judy Blume books? I read about this book prior to taking off for my honeymoon, but it unfortunately came out after I left and I wasn’t able to download it for the plane. Maybe if we start asking now they’ll include the new Mindy Kaling book in the fall (I know you love her too.)

Lauren: I am equally as excited as Jill to read this book. I looooove Judy Blume and I love reading and I can’t wait to read this after I finish Girl on the Train. I feel like I’m reading that book in slow motion but hopefully things settle down pretty soon and I can devote a few solid hours to reading.

Pacifica Enlightening Eye Brightening Shadow Palette – $14

Jill: I need another eyeshadow palette like I need a hole in the head, but these colors are just so damn pretty. I love each of them. It’s also a great palette for traveling because it’s got great diversity in the colors in a relatively small case. The formula is quite nice too, it brushes on evenly and has great coverage. I am already planning on bringing this palette with me on my next weekend getaway.

Lauren: Similar to Jill, I do not need more eye shadow but I will always happily take more eyeshadow. Jill is right though, this is a great size for traveling. This could also fit really neatly in a purse to have a few neutral shades on hand to touch up or create a new look on the fly. The darkest shade on the far right, Urchin, is a beautiful jeweled purple with gold tones. This could really up your smoky eye game if you were going from work to happy hour/out on the town.

Yogitoes Peacock hBand – $4

Jill: The jury is still out on this one for me. I love the color blue and the fact that it’s lightweight, lycra, and great for the gym, but the “peacock-pattern” looks more like a random bleach stain to me. It’s supposed to double as an eye mask, which is pretty cool. It’s only $4 retail, so I’m glad I’m iffy about the least expensive item in the box at least!

Lauren: I am laughing at this blue headband because I definitely had a big blue headband like this in the 80’s or possibly early 90’s that I wore all the time. I had many headbands like this. I actually do yoga these days but this isn’t something I would wear for my yoga classes, since I do a more “gentle” style of yoga but I can definitely see myself wearing this around my house while I wash my face, apply face masks, etc.

Spongelle Boxed Flowers – Fleur en Boite – $16

Jill: I absolutely love this. It’s a bath sponge that is pre-loaded with papaya yuzu body wash. It smells so yummy and contains extracts of yuzu, edelweiss, and vetiver. I am breaking up with my current loofa, so I will use this tomorrow.

Lauren: I am really intrigued by this. I’ve never heard of a sponge that’s pre-loaded with body wash. I have a lot of follow up questions. Like… how long does it last? How hygienic is it? I have a weird thing about kitchen sponges and I hate that weird smell that they get. But as Jill said, this smells really good and I’m willing to try things for the sake of journalism.

SNAP Infusion Supercandy – $4

Jill: These gummies are actually B-vitamins with electrolytes! I love when candy is good for me. I love it when candy also isn’t good for me, but that’s beside the point. My gummies came in various fruit flavors, but I’ve seen other people getting different flavors as well.

Lauren: Wait… because these gummies have electrolytes in them, will they help with hangovers? I am asking for a friend… I don’t drink very often anymore but sometimes one glass of wine turns into three or four and then you’re sitting there wondering if the Supercandy will help with the situation.

BONUS ITEM! $30 gift card to Sweet & Spark

Jill: I love bonus items! Sweet & Spark sells awesome vintage jewelry typically ranging from $50-100, so a $30 gift card is pretty decent to get a pair of earrings or something.

Lauren: I LOVE jewelry. And bonus items. And bonus items that equal jewelry. I was browsing the Sweet & Spark website and they have some really interesting peices that have been featured on The Zoe Report (Rachel Zoe’s newsletter) and in InStyle (one of my personal fave magazines.)

Jill’s Final Score: A

Lauren’s Final Score: A

Jill: The total retail value of this box (including the bonus gift card) is $140.95 and we each paid $39.99 for it. Popsugar always has excellent value, and this month’s box was no exception. I was really excited to tear into my box this month sight unseen, so maybe I’ll try to hold off on seeking out spoilers for the July box. Who am I kidding, I’ll probably google for any leaked pictures right after I finish writing this.
