Yay! My Play! by Sephora box is here and it is AWESOME.
Last month’s September box was the first Play! by Sephora box and I loved it but I honestly had already tried or owned most of the products before. So when the October box came, I asked Matt how many of the products he thought I will have owned already and I was really excited to report that I received a box of all new products! Wooooo!
If you missed last month’s blog, here are some info about the Play! by Sephora box! The most important and best part is that it’s only $10/month! Slightly disappointing news is that I think there is still a waitlist, but you can sign up here.
Some of the benefits of joining PLAY! by Sephora:
- The awesome products, of course
- The $10 you spend earns you Beauty Insider points if you are already part of their rewards program. (I’m VIB Rouge because I clearly have A Problem buying makeup.)
- Each month you will also receive a card that you can bring into Sephora that will earn you 50 additional bonus points on your purchase!
- The PLAY! BOOK rivals the Allure Beauty Box Mini Mag. It’s that good.
But don’t take my word for it… see for yourself!
This month’s theme is Secrets to Dewy Skin. Isn’t that the dream? They also included a 17 page PLAY! Book which included information about the products, helpful tips and also fun facts. (And example of a fun fact: “Konjac root might be new to you but for many women, it’s an old favorite. These gentle sponges have been used for over 1,500 years in Asia as a beauty staple. They originate from Korea’s volcanic Jeju Island, which is known for its pristine landscape.” #TheMoreYouKnow)
This booklet was seriously quite detailed. You can also scan the products themselves on each page with the Sephora app which will take you directly to the product page, YouTube videos or other fun product info. Technology is neat.
Here are all the products they included in this month’s box. It’s seriously a doozy!
Sephora Pearl Mask ($6/each)
Sheet masks have always been a staple in Asian beauty boxes– seriously, if you ever read any Asian Beauty Box reviews, you’ll see a ton of sheet masks. Sephora has been greatly influenced by Korean Beauty trends lately (or KBeauty) so it’s no surprise they have created their own line of sheet masks. They are really quite terrifying so it is fun to scare your significant others with them but they feel so nice on your skin that it is totally worth it.
Dr. Jart+ Ceramidin Day Tint ($48/full-size)
Jill and I are big time fans of Dr. Jart+ products and this happens to be one I never tried before! This is great for light coverage which also provides SPF 15 while also working as a high performing skin treatment.
Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb ($38/full-size)
According to the booklet, in Korea, this hydrating moisturizer is also known as a bounce balm, since it gives skin that plump, springy look. But the whole gel-cream thing is another reason to call it a bounce balm since the texture is so bouncy! I love gel-creams. They are so light but still provide major moisture, which is necessary for the coming winter months. (#WinterIsComing.)
Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb ($38/full-size)
I had always wanted to try the belif brand, so this was an awesome sample to receive. And there is a ton in there, so I will get a lot of use out of it.
Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Instant Infusion Treatment Toner ($48/full-size)
The Fresh Black Tea Age-Delay Toner isn’t a typical toner that you’ve grown up with. This is more of an “essence” than a toner. What’s an essence? How do they keep coming up with this stuff? Well, an essence is another trend that we’ve adopted from KBeauty. This deeply hydrating essence works to boost the performance of the other skincare products in your routine. Let it soak in for about 5 minutes before applying your moisturizer and you will be good to go.
Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser & Charcoal Konjac Sponge ($39/full-sized set)
Ok, so have tried the Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser before, but only in a foil packet sample, and I wasn’t able to get a good feel for it. I happen to love charcoal-infused products because it’s a natural ingredient that draws out impurities for bright, light-from-within skin. (In the past, I tried Garnier’s charcoal line and loved it!) I have also tried a Konjac sponge from Julep in the past because a few friends swear by it but found it sucked up my face wash. Maybe it was the face wash I was using at the time, because this one used in combination with the Boscia Detoxifying Black Cleanser made a huge lather.
Atelier Cologne Collection Azur – Mandarine Glaciale ($25-125/full-size)
I liked the Atelier Cologne as a bonus inclusion but didn’t LOVE it. I thought the postcard was kind of a neat inclusion with it instead of the regular packaging.
Final Grade: A+
I loved every item in this month’s Play! by Sephora box and was excited to try some new products for once! (When you try as many products as I do, it’s hard to find some new ones!) I think my favorite product was the Belif Aqua Bomb moisturizer but I also loved trying the Konjac Sponge with the Boscia Detoxifying Cleanser. And the Sephora sheet mask felt wonderful.

Lauren
