I was really looking forward to getting my Birchbox this month. I’ve been buying so many presents for the holidays that I have put myself on a strict no-treats-until-January budget, so I was excited for the tiny presents Birchbox sent me (and can we take a moment to acknowledge how pretty the box this month was??)
Birchbox sends out deluxe, high-end samples at $10/month. They also have an online shop with full-sized versions of the samples you’ve received. Bonus, if you take like 20 seconds to review the items you’ve received you can earn $$ to spend in the shop! Let’s see what I got this month:
Shea Butter Hand Cream by Soap & Paper Factory – $18 for full size: I LOVE DELUXE SAMPLES. This is a perfectly purse-sized portion and it should last me for a few weeks. The cream smells lovely (green tea scent) and is ultra hydrating. Perfect for the winter months.
Protect & Oil by Beauty Protector – $25.95 for full size: I’ve really liked every product Birchbox has sent me from Beauty Protector (especially the spray detangler). This oil is meant to protect hair against UV rays, heat, and breakage, and it’s nice but it’d be nicer for thicker, coarser hair than mine. It’s just too heavy for fine hair.
StyleEYES Eyeshadow Palette by Coastal Scents – $12 for full size: While I’m not a huge fan of the colors they sent me, it’s a pretty decent size for a sample. My sister LOVES neutral shadows, so she’ll be delighted to receive this. I have gotten samples from this company in the past and I do like how highly pigmented and long-lasting the colors are.
Lighting Crew Highlighting Cream by The Beauty Crop – $18 for full size: I did not think I would like this highlighter as much as I do. For one thing, I don’t use highlighters. But it turns out I don’t use highlighters because my only experience has really been with either near-invisible creams that take SO MUCH to create a glow that it feels disgusting or else it’s with heavy powders that look so fake (I’m looking at you, Julep). This cream is different. It’s perfectly pearlescent, not glittery like most, plus it’s a heavier cream that sinks right into your skin in one swipe.
Dream Big Instant Volumizing Spray by Serge Normant – $25 for full size: I haven’t tried this spray yet, but I’ve heard good things about it. It’s a volumizing, texturizing spray that gives limp locks some va-va-voom. I’ve got some holiday parties coming up that I plan on using this for. (Lauren’s Note: Hi! I actually received this in my own Birchbox that will be reviewed TBD, and I’ve tried this spray! First, I think you should experiment with it a bit because it can make hair quite a bit sticky. I think it’s best for at the roots versus an all over texturizer, but definitely experiment and let us know what you think!)
This was just a little extra bonus for everyone this month – we each got a unique coupon code for $10 off a $25 purchase in the Birchbox shop! Seriously awesome and perfectly timed with the holidays!
Final Rating: A+
Birchbox once again nailed it. I must sound like a parrot at this point, but they really are getting better and better. I loved pretty much everything in this box and the variety was great. Plus, the samples this month were pretty sizable. PLUS we all got a coupon for $10 off in the Birchbox store! Sweet.
