It’s January, and that means it’s resolution (and Birchbox) time! The box design this month was adorable – a fill-in-the-blank top with a sheet of stickers so you can customize your box!

Ambition and strength are great platitudes, but here’s mine: I am going to try super ultra mega hard to use more of the products I get from my boxes. I end up forgetting I even have them when they keep pouring in every month, but the subscriptions I receive keep getting better and better, so it should be doable. Too bad there’s no sticker for that one.

A little about Birchbox before I dive into what I received (and vow to actually use) this month: Each box is full of deluxe, high-end samples at $10/month. They also have an online shop with full-sized versions of the samples you’ve received. Bonus, if you review the items you’ve received you can earn actual $$ to spend in the shop! Ok, enough chatter. Let’s see what I got this month!

Klorane Gentle Dry Shampoo w/ Oat Milk ($20 for full size) – I can never get enough dry shampoo. While I found this one to be pretty volumizing and left my hair softer than any other dry shampoo I’ve ever tried, it wasn’t quite as effective as other dry shampoos I’ve used (Batiste is my favorite by miles). Regardless, I’ll get quite a few uses out of this can so I can’t complain!

Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect ($32 for full size) – I was wary of this one, sometimes these prepping sprays can weigh hair down. I found it to be pretty smoothing without feeling greasy and it was a fairly effective detangler.

IMG_4841Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner ($16, received full size) – I love that they sent a full sized product! It’s always such a treat. This eyeliner is like a sharpie – thick, marker-like tip, rich and opaque color, stays put FOREVER.

Real Chemistry Luminous 3-Minute Peel ($48 for full size) – I haven’t tried this one yet, but it’s meant to rejuvenate skin and is a fairly large sample. I have been using a lot of masks lately to combat my dry, dull winter skin, so this is a perfect addition for me.

Pur-lisse BB Tinted Moist Cream SPF 30 ($32 for full size) – I’m not a huge fan of Pur-lisse, but I tried it this morning and was impressed. It was pretty moisturizing, which I liked, and the coverage was just enough for me (though may be too subtle for someone who prefers more coverage). The one draw back was that it has SPF in it, which means shiny skin eventually.

Final Rating: A+

Including a full sized product will always win me over in general, but I liked everything in this box! It’s a great mix of products and the sample sizes were pretty large this month. I am continually impressed with Birchbox, it seems like they really put a lot of thought into the curation of their boxes.
