Hey there! And welcome to a Very Special Blog. I’m totally going to review the Renewal Target Beauty Box, but first, I want to introduce y’all to our first YouTube review. Click the video below to check it out!

I hope you enjoyed our first video! And if you did, feel free to give us a thumbs up! I have lots of ideas to improve videos going forward but I wanted to at least DO IT so I could get started! But the heart of our blog is still, well, blogging. So here’s the review, as per usual. 🙂

Target doesn’t believe in a regular monthly subscription box. That would make our lives too easy. Instead, they want to release boxes whenever the heck they want to and you just hope you hear about it in time to grab it. That’s why you should sign up for our emails, because we do a pretty good job of letting you know right when we do! This particular box was $7 which was a steal but it sold out very quickly and is no longer available.

Let’s look closer take a closer look. JPEG image-47134FFDC6BD-9

Revlon Ultimate All-In-One Mascara ($8.99): If you watch the video, you’ll see that I give you a little closer look at the brush on this. I was surprised when I opened this that it was so small. It made my lashes really long and gave them a lot of length and separation. The problem was the formula! It was flaky as all get out and I only wore it for a few hours at home. It pays to spend a little more on mascara sometimes because the formula will last so much longer!

Scrunci No-Slip Grip Braided Headwrap ($6.99): This came right at a great time when I am starting to work out again! I have been dying to use this but I hadn’t taken pictures for the blog yet so I resisted.

Laneige BB Cushion ($34.99): This is the second time I have received this in a Target box and I think I might actually buy the full size version from Target this time! This has decent coverage but still very sheer so it lets your skin breathe. These compact foundations have become very popular lately (made popular by K-beauty companie originally, and Laneige is originally a Korean makeup brand) and I haven’t bought one for myself yet but I think now might be the time.

Jergens Wet Skin Moisturizer ($6.99): This is one of my favorite discoveries of last year. I think I got samples in a Walmart Beauty Box originally and loved it! My favorite flavor is the green tea version but I’ve also tried the coconut oil version. I have been sad the last few times I have traveled and I didn’t have this lotion with me so I am thrilled to have a travel size!

Caress Love Forever Body Wash ($5.29): I am just going to let the Allure editor’s speak to this because I found it fascinating when I was reading their Best in Beauty issue.

It’s remarkable how long the fragrances in these body washes last. Usually the scent of a body wash lingers for just a few minutes, or until you slather on body lotion. But this stuff doesn’t give up, all day long, without feeling overwhelming or cloying. Just softly fresh and clean. As with regular body wash, a combination of oil- and water-soluble surfactants dissolve oil and dirt on your skin. But the Caress formula also comes packed with teeny bubbles of fragrance that have a positive charge, so they are attracted to the negative charge on skin. These microscopic balloons—each holding a blend of scented oils—start out soft and malleable, making them tough to burst. Then get this: As your skin dries, the balloons develop a hard, brittle shell that shatters when they’re knocked or rubbed, releasing minuscule amounts of fragrance. One burst bubble won’t do much on its own—but consider that 11 million or so little buddies were also unleashed in the same shower (there are 500 million in each bottle), so you end up with a slow, controlled release of fragrance over the course of a day. “From a chemistry standpoint, this kind of scratch-and-sniff technology is a game changer,” says cosmetic chemist Ni’Kita Wilson. “Getting the shells of these tiny bubbles just right—so they’re malleable on wet skin but then become brittle enough to break once your skin is dry, but not while you towel off—is an impressive accomplishment.”

Isn’t that cool? I have tried this once before and I like it. The technology is really interesting so I hope there is more of a variety of scents/brands in the future!

ATTITUDE 2-in-1 Shampoo & ATTITUDE Volume & Shine Shampoo: I’m not familiar with this brand but looking forward to throwing these babies in my gym bag as something easy peasy to use on the go!

JPEG image-47134FFDC6BD-4 Hada Labo Tokyo Anti-Aging Facial Mask ($14.99/set of 4): I have a feeling that 2016 is going to be the year of the sheet mask. Beth of Beejuboxes.com can tell you this firsthand, as she is THE expert on K-beauty and she’s been getting Asian beauty product related subscription boxes for the last few years and I remember reading her blog and seeing all the sheet masks she would get all the time. Well, the USA has caught on and you can’t walk through any store without seeing sheet masks all over the place. Sephora caught on recently, Birchbox just started catching on and now Target is all about it. I’m not complaining because these things feel nice, however, the biggest benefit is scaring the crap out of my husband. Seriously, it is fun. And then you get skincare benefits as a bonus. 😉

Final Grade: A

This has been one of my favorite Target Beauty Boxes ever! I love basically every product they included and that $7 price tag is where it’s at! Unfortunately, you can’t get this box anymore but you should be able to find all the products mentioned at your local Target!
