I have to admit that I was a little jealous of Jill’s May 2016 Birchbox. Mine was OK, but hers was rad.

If you are just now joining us, Birchbox sends out deluxe, high-end samples at $10/month. One of the great things about Birchbox is you can earn points for writing product reviews which translates to money to spend in their store where you can purchase full-sized items beauty and lifestyle items just by giving some feedback about what you received. We love giving our opinions, so this works well for Jill and I.

Here’s what they sent us this month!

PARLOR by Jeff Chastain Moisturizing Sea Salt Spray (Full-size $24): One thing I can thank Birchbox for is for introducing me to PARLOR hair products, because I love their Smoothing Blowout Spray. (It totally smells like peaches!) And while I haven’t tried it yet, I’m interesting to try their “moisturizing” sea salt spray. By definition, sea salt, is NOT moisturizing, so I’m interested to see if I’m able to get some beachy texture without my hair feeling like straw.

ModelCo Lip Lacquer in Crème Brulee (Full-size $24): I really wish I could use this but holy crap does this stuff make me look dead. I wish I had gotten any other shade because this stuff is supposed to be long-lasting but unfortunately, in this color, it’s totally unwearable for me.

Check out the swatch.

Coola Classic Face Sport SPF 50 White Tea ($32): Summer is here! And that means, I’m going to need sunscreen. I always tend to lose track of sunscreen because to be quite honest, I don’t spend too much time in the sun. However, this is a good size to keep in my purse for those “un-planned” sunny outings.

Goldfaden MD Doctor’s Scrub (Full-size $38-$75): This scrub has little tiny granules for exfoliation but also hylaluronic acid for moisture. I like to do a scrub and a mask on Sunday nights, so this fits into my routine!

Vera Bradley Fragrances in Vanilla Sea Salt (Full-size $48): When I first smelled this, I thought it was a little too sweet. Just that first hit of vanilla made me think of something a bit more teen than adult. But after a few hours, the scent had notes of that “sea salt” in the name and it smelled really nice. Still a bit too sweet for me, but it didn’t smell too young either.

Final Grade: B

This was a decent month for Birchbox! I wish I could have used the ModelCo Lip Lacquer but I’ll definitely use everything else! This wasn’t the most exciting box I have gotten but I definitely like everything!
