How appropriate that this month’s Popsugar Must Have box is all about summer when we’re in the thick of a heat wave on the east coast. I was impressed by the range of products this time around, there’s a little bit of everything in there – accessories, food, a hair product, makeup, a household item, even a pool toy!

Popsugar Must Have is $39.99/month and comes packed with a wide variety of fun items. As you’ll see, this is more of a lifestyle box, not a makeup/hair/jewelry box. Lauren and I like to review our Popsugar boxes together because it’s one of our favorite boxes and we usually have different opinions on everything. Let’s get to it!

Sachajuan Hair in the Sun – $32.00

Jill: This cream is not only a styling cream but also has a UV-filter formula that protects your hair from the sun. I don’t have color-treated hair, but I have tried other Sachajuan products in the past and have enjoyed them. I’m going to toss this in my suitcase when I head to the beach next week and give it a shot.

Lauren: I don’t really go to the beach or really that many pools. I am an indoor girl. Though I do have a pool date for the beginning of August so I may bring this and see if I remember to use it!

Michael Stars Porcelain Skinny Scarf in White – $30.00

Jill: I am not the sort of girl who wears a scarf in the middle of summer, but as a head wrap this is pretty cute. It’s very lightweight and is the perfect length to wrap around your head twice (or more than twice if you have a normal sized head, unlike me).

Lauren: As a label whore, I was excited to own something by Michael Stars! For years I have read InStyle magazine and read about all the celebrities that swear by their Michael Stars T-shirts. I don’t have a shirt yet but I think this scarf is pretty cute. I have a hard time wearing scarves on my head because my head is so flat on the back, it just slips right off! But I could potentially bobby pin it in there and hope for no wind!

European Wax Center Oh My Brow! Brow Highlighter in Pearl – $19.00

Jill: This is a really handy highlighter. It’s the perfect shade for me, gives a nice amount of shimmer without looking like I’m heading to a Britney Spears concert, and is good for both under your brows, on your cheekbones, and anywhere else you might need a little glow. It comes with a smudging tool on the end, which is super helpful.

Lauren: I like receiving little highlighters like this. I am sort of ignoring the fact that it’s meant for brow bones as I will likely use it on my inner eyes, tip of my nose, top of cupid bow on the lips, etc. Having a little stick like this is easier to control for those smaller places you want just a touch of light.

Pintrill Pineapple Pin – $12

Jill: I was not at all excited for this when I saw the spoilers for this month, but in person it’s actually…. cute. It’s very tiny, not garish like I thought. I can see it being cute on a denim jacket or on a tote bag.

Lauren: I really like the idea of this and I was excited to get it but I still don’t know where I will put it. I think I might just stick it on my cube wall because then I can look at it!

House of Pom Emoji Cocktail Napkins – $25

Jill: I thought these were a little hokey, but I have a feeling I will find a use for them. They are cotton cocktail napkins that could double as light coasters, and each has a different popular emoji embroidered in the center.

Lauren: These are super cute. I may be having some girls over next month so I will break these out and wait for everyone to compliment me.

SunnyLife Inflatable Swan Drink Holder – $18

Jill: This is the one item that I have very little use for. Maryland isn’t a place that has a ton of space for pools, and our private community pool would probably look down on us for bringing a boozy flotation device in. At least I’m assuming this is for booze. I’m not going to float a glass of juice in a pool unless it’s got some vodka in it.

Lauren: Unlike Maryland, Texas has lots of pools and pretty much everyone has a friend that has a pool. I am glad to have a friend with a pool and she is totally excited about me bringing this. I will be the hit of the party, which is what I enjoy. But she also has big doughnut floats and other fun things so we will have a fun day. I’ll bring a lot of sunblock.

Joe Chips Classic Sea Salt Retro Potato Chips – $1.49

Jill: Yay, a snack!

Lauren: This is probably the only thing POPSUGAR has ever sent that I will enjoy. I am not an adventurous eater and I just love regular flavored things. I’m not fancy. I kind of forgot I had this, so I will be eating it tonight. Thanks, POPSUGAR.

Bonus! Trove Gift Card – $20

Jill: I thought this was a cool bonus until I saw that the cheapest thing on this site is around $65, so it’s kind of a wash for me. Anyone want my gift card?

Lauren: Agree with Jill. The jewelry on the Trove site is totally cool, and a lot of it is my style but everything is hella expensive. It’s not worth it for me.

Final Rating: B

The total retail value of this box was $137.49 (or $157.49 if you count the gift card I’m not going to use), which is awesome. Popsugar always has great value for the price tag, so it’s not too surprising. I think the floating swan is a bit niche and doesn’t have broad appeal (though again, I live in a place where few people have pools), and I’m not a huge fan of the cocktail napkins. Other than that it’s a pretty solid box!
