Lauren has been getting the Allure Beauty Box for a while, and she recently convinced me I needed to subscribe too. I’ve been intrigued for a while and I finally took the plunge. I have no regrets.
Price: $15.00/month
Box Type: 6 high-end skincare, makeup, and beauty product samples
Why you’ll love it: Allure really has their finger on the pulse of the beauty industry so you know they will send hot products that you’ve wanted to try. They also include a great booklet explaining each product in detail!
I now totally understand why Lauren always mentions the booklet that is included each month. It’s got a full page devoted to each product in the box, which is extraordinarily helpful if you’re not super familiar with one of the products (it’s bound to happen since they send new, on-trend stuff).
I did have some issues getting my account started, but I’m glad it’s finally sorted. It seems that it takes a month or two for your subscription to actually start, so bear that in mind if you’re excited to sign up. They do have various ways to contact customer service, so that’s helpful. Either way, I am really happy with my first box! Here’s what I got:
Eau Thermale Avene PhysioLift Eyes: I am a sucker for a new eye treatment. The skin around your eyes is so sensitive and quick to show signs of aging, so I am down to try anything to keep my skin looking nice! I am a big fan of Avene products, and I like this one too. It’s soothing despite containing retinol (which I have to be careful with due to my sensitive skin), and I think it’s actually pretty awesome. Plus it’s got hyaluronic acid, which is amazing if you’re looking for a moisturizing product.
Orly Breathable Treatment + Color in TLC: I really like this color, but what I love even more is getting a full-sized product in a sample box! I have had a few Orly polishes in my day, and I generally like the formula a lot. You get a lot of polish in the bottle and you usually only need 1-2 coats max. This bottle is around $8.99 if you bought it in a store, so this is great value for this box!
Pur-lisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Cleansing Milk: I happen to be in the market for a new face wash, so this is good timing. It’s an extremely gentle cleanser that is moisturizing yet thorough, and doesn’t dry your skin out. It doubles as a makeup remover when applied to dry skin, so no more using separate cleansers for different purposes!
Supergoop Shine On Lip Screen SPF 50: This is a pretty neat product. It’s sunscreen for your lips, but you put it over your lip color. You can use it on its own too, it’s like a moisturizing balm that’s not going to leave a white smear on your face like regular sunscreen!
GrandeMascara: This mascara is supposed to be pretty amazing, but since I have lash extensions I can’t give an official opinion. Sorry guys. I can tell you that the awesome Allure booklet says it has a thick, bushy brush and its glossy, non-clumping formula gives great length and volume to lashes!
Bvlgari Omnia Coral Eau de Toilette: I have apparently never had a Bvlgari perfume sample before because I struggled BIG TIME getting it open. At the exact moment that the lid flew off and covered me with in a tiny tidal wave of perfume, I noticed the very clear diagram on the box that explains exactly how to open it. Oops. This scent is nice, but not totally my cup of tea. It’s a fruity-floral fragrance, but it’s more intense than I typically like to wear. That might have been because I wore the entire bottle at once, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.
Final Rating: A
I was pretty happy with my first Allure Beauty Box! Subscribing fiasco aside, I’m glad I am now getting it monthly. I’ve already seen a spoiler for the October box and I am really excited to see what else we’ll get!
xo,
Jill
