I know, I know. I said I was going to cancel Birchbox awhile ago. But I just cannot quit you, Birchbox! Besides, look how cute that box is! And Birchbox just keeps sending me great products, so I am fully on board. You got me, Birchbox. You really did.

BIRCHBOX

Price: $10/month

Box Type: Beauty products, 5-6 deluxe samples

Why you’ll love it: Top brands, good sized samples of solid products. Their new customization process learns what you like so when you review your boxes on birchbox.com you’ll guarantee more personalized boxes. Plus, you can pick a sample you’d love to see in your box or select a pre-made box instead of leaving it to chance!

Oribe Superfine Hairspray (Full-size – $22-$33): This is a product that I actually have the full-size version of, so I’m pleased to get a travel size for my gym bag/suitcase. The formula is pretty fine and easily brushed out but provides decent hold. That said, after buying the aforementioned full-size version of this, I learned that I actually like this bargain brand better. Who knew? But I’ll totally use this sample completely. 🙂

Bumble and bumble. Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil (Full-size – $40): This is one of those products that just does not work for me at all. The first time I received this sample, I immediately dropped it on the ground, which is probably where this product really should remain when it comes to my hair. This stuff just makes my hair a greasy mess if I use too much and if I use too little, nothing happens. I have never found a happy medium and I have given up trying. But Jill loves it, so I’ll say that.

Marcelle New-Age LumiPower 3-in-1 Moisturizer (Full-size – $26): This is a a really nice lightweight moisturizer. I personally think it’s more of a day moisturizer than a 3-in 1 moisturizer, but I like heavier creams at night and I also need to use a separate eye cream and I think most people do? Or maybe I just know high maintenance people? I’m also not user what is anti-aging about this cream other than it’s better to use one than not.

COOLA Mineral SPF 30 Daydream Makeup Primer (Full-size – $42): This primer felt super silky and makeup went on really well over it. Plus, it has SPF 30, which you really can’t beat. My only issue is that it’s a little price-y. But if you don’t have SPF anywhere else in your routine, this might be a good bet!

Chella Eyebrow Pencil – Tantalizing Taupe (Full-size – $18): I wasn’t expecting much from this because I haven’t ever heard of this brand. I mean, obviously makeup can be good if I haven’t heard of it… probably. 🙂 The pencil reminded me of the one I have from Anastasia Beverly Hills and this one from Colourpop. The pencil allows for small, thin brush strokes that mimic real hair. Look how hairy my wrist looks! (below)

Final Grade: A

This month’s Birchbox was great! I received some high-end brands and some I haven’t heard of before but was pleasantly surprised. And the box was super cute.
