After receiving my December Birchbox, I decided I am going to cancel my subscription. I may have one more box coming but at this point, I am just tired of receiving “smoothing” hair products for my stick straight hair. I’m happy to share some of my products with friends and family that can use them but at the end of the day, *I’m* the one paying for the subcription and I’d like to be able to use the products! I even reached out to Birchbox about this a few months ago but I’m still getting this same category of product. Along with the points change, I decided Birchbox just isn’t worth the $10 to me. But… I still have a December Birchbox to review, so here we go!
Price: $10/month
Box Type: Beauty products, 5-6 deluxe samples
Why you’ll love it: Top brands, good sized samples of solid products. Their new customization process learns what you like so when you review your boxes on birchbox.com you’ll guarantee more personalized boxes. Plus, you can pick a sample you’d love to see in your box or select a pre-made box instead of leaving it to chance!
Check out what I got this month:
Here is everything we got. Check out those two hair care products I probably won’t use much! Yay! (Sarcasm.)
LOC One & Done Shadow Stick in Out of Your Shell ($10 – FULL SIZE!): LOC is one of my favorite brands that I have discovered through Birchbox and the One & Done Shadow Sticks are on point. If I could insert the A-OK emoji, I would. When you put these on, you have a few seconds to blend and then it will not budge. This is my third color of the LOC Shadow Stick and also my sample choice this month. This color will be great for the inner eye, highlighting the brow bone or even lightly highlighting your cupids bow. I’m glad I got this in one of my last boxes.
Hey Honey Walk the Walk Propolis Foot Cream ($23): I never really think about foot creams but my heels are dry as hell right now, so I think I’ll put this on with some socks overnight and hope for the best! (At least until my next pedicure.)
Sephira Hair Mineral Mud Mask ($31): I recently got my hair cut and colored so it looks much healthier than it used to. I am going to hold onto this mask and maybe use it once or twice a month on days I’m not doing anything to make sure I’m not super greasy afterwards.
Fave4 Smooth for Sure Blowout Cream ($16): This product is one of the reasons I cancelled my Birchbox subscription. I have lost count of how many smoothing hair products they have sent me that I just cannot use. My hair is straight and fine and all I want is volume. I sent an email to Birchbox awhile ago about this, yet here we are. #ByeBirchbox
Leaders 7 Wonders Himalayam Camellia Pore Minimizing Mask ($5.99 – FULL SIZE): I’m always down for a sheet mask, so I can chase my husband around the house in it. (Just me?) I love a Sunday skincare + mask ritual. I’m getting way more into skincare after Jill’s Korean Skincare blog, so now I can add a mask into my routine.
Birchbox gave everyone a little mirror and I like it! It’s cute and small enough not to take up too much room, so I’m going to throw it in my makeup bag.
Final Grade: B
My final Birchbox wasn’t terrible but I have just reached the end of my rope with the smoothing haircare products. I’m going to review some different boxes in the future, so stay tuned! But don’t worry – Jill will still be reviewing Birchboxes for your reading pleasure.
