We don’t talk about too much “real” life because our blog is a fun escape! However, in my real life, politics and current events have not… been going my way. So what I’ve been doing is instead of watching the news or reading more articles, is start watching more beauty YouTube videos. And you could say that I’ve been watching… a lot of them. I thought I would share some of my current favorite YouTube gals and I’m hoping y’all might be able to recommend more YouTubers for me to watch! It’s going to be a long 4 years, so at least I am going to look fabulous. 🙂
First up is Jaclyn Hill. I feel like I am the last person on earth (well, I guess Jill was because I told Jill about her) to hear about Jaclyn Hill. She’s basically a household name in the beauty world at this point. Not only is her YouTube channel kick-ass, she has collaborated with brands like BECCA cosmetics. (If you have used their highlighter Champagne Pop, you have Jaclyn to thank.)
So why should you tune in? She is a former professional makeup artist and product specialist for MAC. She is great at step-by-step tutorials for achievable glam looks.
In the following video, she broke down all the steps for getting that flawless “Instagram” face.
Jaclyn also did a video on how to apply false eyelashes! She makes it look so easy in her other videos but I know practice makes perfect. That said, my previous attempts have gone poorly, to quite poorly. But now that I have all of her tips, I think I will have much more luck applying false lashes! And because I’m addicted to watching her videos, I’m clearly going to want to wear them like her. 🙂
She also did this great Fall look with the Kathleen Lights x Morphe palette!
Jaclyn also does a lot of natural, wearable looks as well. Jaclyn is like that cool girl who you kind of want to hate but also kind of want to be because she is so gorgeous but then you learn she is ridiculous and fun and you have so much in common. You’ll like her.
And speaking of Kathleen Lights… she is my next favorite! If Jaclyn is the Cool Girl you want to be, Kathleen is your BFF. Unlike Jaclyn, Kathleen isn’t a professional makeup artist but she’s great at makeup and just SO LIKABLE. Kathleen likes high-end makeup as much as the next glamorous YouTube gal but Kathleen also uses a LOT of drugstore makeup, too. She acknowledges when things are expensive and will usually give some drugstore options.

My next favorite is NikkieTutorials. If Kathleen is your BFF, Nikkie is sort of like your favorite drag queen. Hahaha. She isn’t a drag queen obviously, she is just amazing with the full-on glam looks. This might sound mean but I don’t intend it to- she is a relatively average looking chick without makeup. I mean, let’s be real – most of us are. But she is able to use makeup in a way that totally transforms the way that she looks and it’s almost magical. I am the emoji with the hearts as eyes when I’m watching her videos. I just love her.

I happen to love Kat Von D and her makeup line but she has a pretty specific “Look.” I love this video of Nikkie giving Kat the “NikkieTutorials Glam” makeover. (Spoiler alert: she looked amazing!)
Nikkie did several AMAZING (I mean, truly incredible) Halloween makeup looks. I love Harley Quinn, so this one is fun.
This is a gorgeous glam look inspired by Adele. So many of Nikkie’s looks are totally gorgeous but unrealistic for every day. I just get so mesmerized watching her do her makeup!
Before I fell down this YouTube rabbit hole, I thought I knew a LOT about makeup and as I watch these gals, I feel like I don’t know anything at all! This must be what Jon Snow feels like ALL THE TIME. Please tell me if there are any other channels I should be checking out!
