So let’s see what we got this month…

Here is everything I received this month! I think it feels like fewer items than we normally receive but I feel like the value was pretty high this month in terms of the number of full-size products we received.

Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Illuminating Primer ($36): When I first took this out of the box, it reminded me SO MUCH of Becca’s Backlight Primer. The formula is a little different though – it’s more yellow in color and a bit more water-y. But as you can see in the picture below, it definitely gives skin a beautiful sheen but I haven’t tried it under makeup yet to speak to how it wears throughout the day and if helps makeup stay longer.

Skinmedica Total Defense Repair SPF 34 ($68): When I first saw this, I didn’t read the bottle closely and I couldn’t figure out what it was. Then I decided to use my reading skills and understood it to be sunscreen. This looks like a really expensive sunscreen but I don’t wear it every day. I know I probably should but I do have some SPF in my makeup which I know probably isn’t technically enough for every day but I hardly ever spend any time outside. Basically I get in my car at 6 a.m. and drive to spin, then drive to my office as the sun is coming up at 7:30 a.m., then drive home as the sun is setting. I almost never even leave the office when I get there! Anyway. I guess you weren’t asking my schedule. I think I will hold onto this for a day that I am more outdoorsy. I don’t think this would be enough SPF for a pool day or anything, but… something. (I had a really hard time thinking of an outdoor activity. This is how little time I spend outside.)

La Roche-Posay Rosaliac CC Cream ($38.99): Right off the bat, I’m not into this because of the one “universal” color is way too dark for me. That said, this might work for other people, since it’s a primer, moisturizer, SPF 30 and foundation in one.

SMARTfx Volume Extend Mascara (Used to be $20, now $12): I had high hopes for this mascara. It has the rubbery wand that I like, with the bristles at the end to help reach every lash. However… the formula was just a little weird. The first coat didn’t give me the volume and coverage I wanted though it did separate my lashes. The second and third coats just made everything a little thick and clumpy.

By Terry Baume de Rose ($60): This is my very favorite discovery from this box. I am a little sad that I have fallen in love with a SIXTY DOLLAR LIP BALM but them’s the breaks. One thing you should know if you couldn’t tell by the name is that this smells very strongly of roses. I happen to love this because I love rose-scented things. This is quite simply luxurious, as $60 lip balms tend to be. It is rich in Vitamin E and floral oils that moisturize and bio-ceramides (I don’t know what those are) that smoothen and provide anti-aging benefits.

Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Lip Satin in Cashmere ($48): I was REALLY excited about this. I think we got a bright red shade in the December BeautyFix box but because of the formula, I didn’t love it because since this is a satin and not a long-wear formula, I didn’t trust myself not to get it all over my face if I tried to wear it. However, this rosy-mauve is a great shade for me in this formula. It’s a little more wearable day-to-day and I think this will be perfect for work.

Final Grade: A+

I’m super excited about February’s BeautyFix box! The only things I’m not totally sure I’m going to use are the sunscreen and the CC cream. I’m looking forward to trying the primer and I already love the By Terry Baume de Rose and Kevyn Aucoin’s The Sensual Lip Satin.
