It’s May Allure Beauty Box time! Though by the time you read this it will almost be June! Where is the time going?!
Price: $15.00/month
Box Type: Monthly beauty box featuring 6 high end beauty product samples (and sometimes full-sized products!).
Why you’ll love it: Top brands, great price, new products that you will love! A great way to sample expensive products without committing to the price tag. Each box comes with an Allure mini-magazine that showcases each product and is as quality as you’d expect from a magazine powerhouse like Allure.
The thing that sets the Allure Beauty Box apart is the Allure Mini-Mag where the Allure editors give you the real-deal 411 on the products they chose for this box!
Here’s everything we got this month!
Luxie Beauty Rose Gold Tapered Blending Eye Brush 205 ($12): I got my first Luxie Beauty brush in my first Beautycon box and I loved it so I was really excited to get another one! I have honestly been using this one without makeup at all, just to blend out shadows and make sure there are No Harsh Lines. (I’m trying, Jaclyn Hill!) I’ve been really enjoying this and I’m so glad to receive a great brush in a subscription box!
Skinfix Foaming Clay Cleanser ($14.99): I’ve gotten used to Skinfix products from Target Beauty Boxes and I’ve been pretty pleased with the brand. I liked this cleanser because it didn’t make my skin too dry. I think I will end up using this sample in the mornings after spin when I’m covered in sweat. (Allure also gave a coupon code SKALLURE to receive 20% off on Skinfix.com products thru July 31, if you were interested! )
Drunk Elephant Umbra Sheer Physical Daily Defense SPF 30 ($38): I AM SO EXCITED TO GET A DRUNK ELEPHANT PRODUCT! Jill (and Loren) have raved about their products but I have never tried them, mostly because they are pretty expensive and I have a lot of my other expensive skincare stuff left. But I am still excited to try this! I am bad about putting sunblock on every day, I admit it. I drive from garage to garage and I’m outdoors for mere seconds at a time. But it is good to have a good physical sunblock (versus chemical) for those days when I spend more than a few seconds outside. (Allure included a coupon code HELLOSPRING20 to receive 20% off of all drunkelephant.com products.)
This Works Stress Check Breathe In Fragrance ($30): So the point of this little rollerball is that you are supposed to smell it when you are stressed out and it will help calm you down. It’s kind of earthy smelling, with notes of lavender, eucalyptus and frankincense. I am going to bring it to work and see if… This Works. See what I did there? The company is called This Works? Eh?
Kneipp Body Oil in Lavender ($22): I am kind of meh about this product, as I’m not super into body oil. I didn’t open it because I want to be able to donate it!
Doucce Eyeshadow Mono in Jody ($10): So when you sign up for Allure Beauty Box, you will receive the below compact with some shadows in it already with the ability to change them out with shadows you get in future boxes. The future is now, y’all, as I have finally received my next little shadow. However, this is just not my favorite formula and this is a kind of odd color. I’m no stranger to pink/red/crazy shadow combos but this lavender color is just a little to weird for me! I think it could make most people look kind of sick if they aren’t careful!
And here’s a picture with the compact closed.
Final Grade: B+
This month’s Allure Beauty Box is a solid B+ because I love the Luxie Beauty brush and the Drunk Elephant product! I’ll also make use of the Skinfix face wash and I’ll experiment with the This Works Stress Check Breathe In Fragrance.
