Eeek! Sephora has been killing it lately with their PLAY! by Sephora boxes, in addition to their special edition boxes. I’ve received a ton of stuff that I love and use regularly! So, spoiler alert… this is a great box!
Price: $10/month
Box Type: This is a beauty box that contains deluxe samples (and occasionally full-sized) products that can be found at Sephora.
Why you’ll love it: Ummmm, did you see it’s all fun products that come from Sephora? Some boxes will send you random products from brands you’ve never heard of before but Play! by Sephora will only send you brands from their own store – basically all high end fun things you are excited to try! Here’s a breakdown of the benefits:
- The awesome products, of course.
- The $10 you spend earns you Beauty Insider points if you are already part of their rewards program. (I’m VIB Rouge because I clearly have A Problem buying makeup.)
- Each month you will also receive a card that you can bring into Sephora that will earn you 50 additional bonus points on your purchase!

They included this pretty hot pink satin bag this month. Sometimes I enjoy getting these little bags but most of the time I just stare at them because I don’t really have much use for them. I do like this one but I don’t know what I would put in it! Any ideas?
I thought the polka-dot theme of the was really cute though! When you unfolded the whole thing, the back was advertising the Beauty Insider Community.
And here is the insert that discusses all the products in detail!
And here’s everything I received this month! There is only one thing I won’t use and it’s a personal preference thing, so overall, I’m really happy!
Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow Volumizing Fiber Gel in Medium ($24): It’s funny that I received this in a subscription box because I just bought the full-sized version in this exact color last weekend! I bought it to compare with Glossier Boy Brow, which I use every day but felt lazy about waiting for it to ship to me. Boy Brow is cheaper but then again, you DO have to pay for shipping. I’ll definitely be picking up Boy Brow again the next time I place a Glossier order, but the Gimme Brow works exactly the same. I am glad to have a little backup!
Devacurl Melt Into Moisture Matcha Butter Conditioning Mask ($36): This is the only thing in the box that is not for me. As you can guess from the brand name, Devacurl is a brand for gals with curly hair and that ain’t me. I will pass this along to a curly-haired friend!
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner in Black ($22): I remember trying this a long time ago and liking this so I’m not sure why I stopped using it. I used to use Kat Von D’s black liner in trooper but then I realized it actually sucks. I think that the Stila one is actually way better so I don’t know why it doesn’t get more hype. I swatched this on my hand last night and it stayed on all night and most of the day today. So they mean it when they say “stay all day.” And this one comes in a ton of colors!
Stella McCartney POP ($25-$72): Stella McCartney’s original perfume, Stella, is my all-time favorite. Every few years, I go back to it. I feel like Stella is more of a sexy scent, and POP is lighter. The top notes are tomato leaves, violet leaves and green mandarin. Middle notes are violet, tuberose and plumeria. Base notes are sandalwood, cedarwood and musks.
Belif The True Cream Moisturizing Bomb ($38): I love the brand Belif and almost everything they make! I especially love the Belif Aqua Bomb, which is more of a gel-cream formula. However… Winter Is Coming. And my skin will be dry. This will be my best friend.
Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour in Happy ($28): I recently went through part of my lipstick collection to see what I had buried in there. I was also looking up ingredients of every lipstick to check for castor oil and I was pleased that Laura Mercier doesn’t contain castor oil. However, this bright frosty pink is just not my style, so I won’t be wearing this. But I think this will be cute for my niece for Christmas.
Final Grade: A
I thought the assortment and quality of products was really great this month! Of course the Devacurl product wasn’t for me and the lip color wasn’t my favorite but these things are personal preference and the brands are still really nice. I’m fired up about the Benefit Gimme Brow, the Stila liquid liner and the Belif cream!
