I just realized today that I didn’t ever blog about my November Play! by Sephora box!

Play! by Sephora

Price: $10/month

Box Type: This is a beauty box that contains deluxe samples (and occasionally full-sized) products that can be found at Sephora.

Why you’ll love it: Ummmm, did you see it’s all fun products that come from Sephora? Some boxes will send you random products from brands you’ve never heard of before but Play! by Sephora will only send you brands from their own store – basically all high end fun things you are excited to try! Here’s a breakdown of the benefits:

  • The awesome products, of course.
  • The $10 you spend earns you Beauty Insider points if you are already part of their rewards program. (I’m VIB Rouge because I clearly have A Problem buying makeup.)
  • Each month you will also receive a card that you can bring into Sephora that will earn you 50 additional bonus points on your purchase!

Here’s everything I got in November!

And here is the insert that describes the products with some helpful information.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara ($26): I like this mascara just so-so. I like the wand but the formula is a little too wet for my taste. Once I’ve used the mascara for a little while, it dries out a little and I like it a little better.

SEPHORA Collection Rouge Cream Lipstick in The Red ($12.50): This red is so pigmented and creamy, so OF COURSE it has castor oil in it and I can’t use it. It looks like a gorgeous lipstick, so let me know if you’re a fan of the SEPHORA Rouge Cream lipstick!

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Pore Extractor Mask ($35): When I first received this, I thought it was the Purity face wash, which I was a little more excited about. However, I’ve never tried the mask, so this might be nice. Though I don’t have a huge problem with clogged pores, so I might just hold onto this until I need it.

Farmacy Honey Drop Lightweight Moisturizer with Echinacea GreenEnvy ($45): I’ve only tried a couple Farmacy products and I think I like this one the most. This feels lightweight enough for daytime and under makeup. It has a slightly weird smell, but not bad. It has hyaluronic acid, so it has great moisturizing properties but not overly moisturizing.

Amika Perk Up Dry Shampoo ($10): I actually don’t like this dry shampoo very much. I like dry shampoos that give me a little volume and this does not. I don’t think it really makes my dirty hair feel more clean either. I like some Amika products I’ve tried but not this one.

Burberry My Burberry Blush ($68-$120): I have always liked the My Burberry scent. I actually owned the full-size version of it. This is a sweeter version of it, and I really like it! Of course, I’ll let Sephora describe it:

The fragrance opens with sharp pomegranate, fused with vibrant lemon. Delicate rose petal notes are lifted with crisp apple, while a base of jasmine and wisteria round off the scent for an intensely feminine touch.

Final Grade: B

The November Play! by Sephora box was decent. I liked the mascara, moisturizer and perfume. Everything else was kind of meh, but that’s OK. They can’t all be winners.
