Recently, I was lucky enough to receive a box of Dr. Brandt Skincare goodies from Influenster, and I’m excited to share them with you! The star of the show is the Dr. Brandt Hydrobiotic Recovery Sleeping Mask, but I reviewed a few other products as well.

Influenster is great because after answering some survey questions and hooking up your social media accounts, they will send you products in the mail for review purposes. You are expected to give your honest review, so it’s not like you have to love every single thing you get or you won’t get anything else. I’ve gotten some really decent stuff over the years. My friend Cassie actually recently received a Marc Jacobs palette that she ended up giving me! Thanks, Influenster and Cassie!

I posted this pic to my Instagram awhile back and I really like it. I used the Kat Von D Metal Matte palette, following a Jkissa tut and I love how it came out.

Everything came in this box with this quote from Dr. Frederic Brandt himself on it. I wanted to know a little more about the man behind the brand, so I went to their website to learn more. For those of you who don’t know, Dr. Brandt was a visionary in the world of cosmetic dermatology. His cutting-edge techniques and procedures, landmark FDA studies, and state-of-the-art cosmetic devices and skincare products blazed revolutionary trails in the field.

Dr. Brandt Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping Mask ($52): Before I get into my thoughts, I decided to go to the Sephora website to see the product claims and holy hell, there are a lot of them, so I’m just going to copy and paste so you can see for yourself:

Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping Mask is powered by Dr. Brandt Skincare’s breakthrough Biotic Balancing Complex that works to optimize the skin’s ecosystem by balancing naturally occurring flora on the skin’s surface while fortifying the skin barrier. It is powered by an oligosaccharide and yogurt powder that helps restore natural pH levels, a lactococcus ferment lysate that improves skin integrity, and Dr. Brandt’s signature antioxidant tri-blend composed of manuka honey and tea extracts that protects the skin against environmental stressors. The overnight leave-on mask is further enriched with a unique delivery matrix that combines redness-relieving peptides with the antioxidant properties of tea and soothing boswellia and honey. A deeply hydrating blend of ceramides, fatty acids, soothing actives, and tamarindo extract also works to restore dry skin in 24 hours while maintaining the skin barrier to prevent moisture loss.

There were like 25 words in that description I didn’t understand, but let’s get down what I thought, shall we? First of all, I adore the texture of this cream. Its gel-cream formula is very reminiscent of the Belif Aqua Bomb, if you are familiar with that. That moisturizer happens to be one of my all-time favorites, so I was pleasantly surprised.

The product spreads out over the face incredibly easily, so you really only need a little bit. I think this jar is going to last me almost a year! I have been using this for several weeks now, and I’ve only been using the product that stuck to the little plastic thing between mask and the lid.

Immediately after using the mask, my skin is immediately extremely hydrated, which is lovely. The next morning, my skin STILL looks hydrated but also plump and super glowy, which is obviously the dream. As for the other claims… I’m not really sure. I don’t really suffer from redness, so I can’t test that. I don’t know if it’s protecting against environmental stressors or whether or not it’s balancing the flora on my skin’s surface. (lol, wut.) But moisturizing properties are amazing, so I can speak to that.

This is one of my newest fave skincare discoveries, so I’m extremely glad that I received this to test. The $52 price tag is hefty, but as I said before, I do think this will last you a really long time, so I think it’s a fair price.

Dr. Brandt Magnetight Age Defier ($75/full-size): So THIS is a really interesting product. When I first heard about this product and heard there were magnets involved, I was sort of like:

You put it on like a normal mask with this little plastic spatula it comes with it. I would insert a picture of myself here but I realized it legit looks like blackface, so I’m not doing that to myself. But now you have the mental picture. (You’re welcome.) When the mask is on your face, it feels very comfortable and moisturizing – not tight at all. Then, you get out this triangular magnet, wrap it in a tissue, then hold it just above the skin and move up and down all over the face. Even holding the magnet a little over your face, the mask just sort of jumps up onto the tissue. And then when you try to remove the tissue from the magnet, the stuff  that WAS on your face sort of sticks to the magnet through the tissue. I mean, it makes sense, that’s how it got ONTO the tissue. But it’s sort of interesting that this goop that was just on your face is still magnetic. Afterwards, my skin feels very hydrated and smooth. I think this is from the essential oils that are in the mask.

So. WHY MAGNETS?! I had the same question.

This innovative and effective magnetized mask uses magnetic currents to zap away visible signs of skin aging. The mask is infused with iron magnetic particles that draw out impurities and daily residue trapped on the skin, while electromagnetic interactions create a “force-field effect” that lends skin a tighter feeling over time. Skin is visibly radiant, smoother, firmer, and tighter for younger-looking skin overtime.

All righty then. My skin definitely seems a bit radiant, immediately post-mask, but I can’t speak to any of the other benefits, as I would need to use this product a little longer.

Dr. Brandt Antioxidant Water Booster Triple Power Ingestible Water Supplement ($39): I admittedly waited a long time to try this, as this type of product is not my cup of tea. I typically hate any sorts of flavoring in my water. I am also really picky, so I typically hate… everything? I really sat down to write this blog thinking I’d be like, “I hate this, this is gross, why does anyone like this?” (Especially since I did read a few reviews to that effect.) But surprisingly, I didn’t actually hate it. Would I have purchased this? Absolutely not. But I may actually put this in my water before spin, because it can’t actually hurt, right?

The Sephora description for this product isn’t quite as extra as the one for the Hydro Biotic Sleeping Mask but it’s still like… what?

This ingestible supplement is formulated with an antioxidant powerhouse trio of green tea, white tea, and grape seed extract designed to fight the destructive effects of free radicals from within, helping to keep the complexion rejuvenated and restored.* Studies have shown that green tea, white tea, and grapeseed contain among others, the polyphenol EGCG (Epigallocatechin gallate), the strongest of any known form of anti-oxidants. EGCG is more than 100 times as effective at neutralizing free radicals as vitamin C and 25 times more powerful than vitamin E.

Dr. Brandt’s signature antioxidant blend is also combined with maqui berry extract, a superfruit with the highest known ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity), and goji berry extract, rich in anti-oxidants, vitamins, nutrients, and amino acids. These clarifying agents help support the body’s natural defenses against aging free radicals. Each dropper full is equivalent to the polyphenol content of 15 cups of green tea. With a light, tea-like taste, the drops can be added to your favorite beverage or meal from water and smoothies to oatmeal and salads for a daily boost.

Influenster was also kind enough to send me a bunch of different Dr. Brandt samples, which was really nice. I have actually tried the Luminizer Primer via a Boxycharm box. I actually liked it, but I think it will be much better suited for those with a dryer skin type. I haven’t made my way through all of the samples yet, but I look forward to it. I do have one petty gripe with Dr. Brandt samples: Ever since I started receiving “deluxe” sized samples like the tubes above in subscription boxes, I noticed that they barely have any product in them. So, it looks as though you will be able to try the product for a few days when in reality, you are probably getting just as much as a foil sample to use one time. I feel like it’s very misleading and incredibly annoying. It’s difficult to test skincare just once and get a feel for how it will work, so those deluxe samples are really nice because you can actually try something for a few days or a week – not so much with Dr. Brandt samples. But… it’s their product, their packaging. They can do what they want. That’s just my petty two cents. 😊

I am really grateful that I had a chance to try so many of these products. I am so in love with the Hydro Biotic Recovery Sleeping Mask, and I enjoy using it every night. The Magnetight mask was a bit of a surprise – I didn’t think I would really like it but I really enjoyed the process and how my skin felt afterwards. The Anti Oxidant Water Booster was OK. I expected to hate it and I really didn’t, so that’s cool. But I know I won’t be buying that again because it just ain’t really my thing.

What do you think? Do you like Dr. Brandt? Got any fave Dr. Brandt products? Let me know!
