I know I can’t be alone here when I say that I have particular products that I use during different times of the year. My skin has very different needs in the summer than it does in the winter, and who doesn’t like to change things up once in a while? As we head into spring (which is about a 3 week period that fluctuates between freezing and sweltering here in the Mid-Atlantic), I have found myself transitioning from my heavy winter favorites to lighter more spring-like products. Here’s what has been keeping me going through the winter vs what you’ll find on my shelves in the coming season!

Belif Peat Miracle Revital Cream vs. Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb
I have utterly fallen in love with Belif moisturizers. I thought nothing could top my beloved Aqua Bomb, but it turns out a few of their heavier creams are somehow even better for the cold months when my skin needs a little extra something to keep it hydrated. The Peat Miracle Cream is a lovely cream that keeps my skin smooth and soft and I made it the entire winter without a single dry patch! It really is a miracle. But I am super excited to get back to needing a lighter moisturizer because Aqua Bomb is my absolute favorite. It’s a gel cream, but somehow extremely hydrating, and heavy enough for my super dry skin without being greasy. It also just makes my skin look better the longer I use it. I don’t know how Belif is so amazing or what magic they’re using in their products, but I somehow love everything they sell and I will continue to throw my money at them while they make me look young forever.

Belif Peat Miracle Revital Serum vs. Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum
To be honest, I may continue to use the Belif Peat serum off and on because I love it so much, but the C-Firma serum is just so amazing I can’t NOT use it. As I mentioned once or twice already, everything Belif makes is amazing. But there’s something downright transformative about C-Firma that I have been looking forward to using it again ever since I made the switch back in November. It evens out skin tone, firms skin elasticity, resurfaces skin by dissolving dead cells, repairs photo damage, and even provides a little bit of hydration. Yes, it really, really does all of that. The results are way more noticeable to me in the spring/summer months, and it’s so expensive that I try to give it (and my wallet) a break for a few months over the winter while I use something a bit more hydrating. But man am I excited to get back to using it!

Living Proof Full Thickening Cream vs. Caviar Anti-Aging Miracle Multiplying Volume Mist
When the weather is warmer and humidity starts to creep in, the last thing I want to do is spend a while with hot styling tools like a hair dryer or a straightening iron. In the winter I don’t mind drying my hair every day, and I absolutely love how soft and full the Living Proof Thickening Cream makes my hair, but in the spring I would much rather just spritz some Caviar spray on my hair and move on with my life. Do I just become lazier in the spring? Unsure. My hair is fine, so it has been a real quest trying to find a volumizing product that I can leave in my hair without having to dry and style it after, but Caviar has somehow managed to make a product that is equal parts effective and convenient for me. Bravo, Caviar!

Dr. Jart+ Black Label Detox BB Cream vs. Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45
Aside from the obvious problem of only having two extremely generic shades available (seriously, how is that even possible?), there’s a lot to love about both of these BB creams. The Black Label is a heavier, creamier formula that has better coverage and makes skin look flawless. It’s has a low SPF 25, which is fine for winter when I’m inside most days, but when spring comes around and my face is in the sunlight a lot more I need something with more protection. That’s where the Premium BB Cream with SPF 45 comes in. It’s a lighter formula with lighter coverage for when the weather is balmy (I can’t stand a lot on my skin when it’s humid out!), and it also has a treatment serum in it to make your skin look better on its own so you don’t need all that coverage anyway.

Elizabeth & James Nirvana Black vs. Harvey Prince Hello
I don’t just transition skin and makeup products between seasons, I also change up scents! I love sweeter, heavier scents full of vanilla and spice in the winter months, but when it’s warmer I am all about citrus and light florals. Nirvana has an amazing deepness to it without smelling dank. I am terrible at describing scents, so I’ll let Sephora do it for me: “With the wind in your hair and an open road ahead, capture the feeling of freedom with Nirvana Black. A bold, addictive blend of violet, sensual sandalwood, and rich vanilla strike the match on finding the perfect balance between masculine and feminine. Nirvana Black is a bold eau de parfum that inspires independence.”  ….sure. What they said. Anyway, here’s my current spring favorite, Hello by Harvey Prince: “Notes: Meyer Lemon, White Grapefruit, Satsuma Mandarin, Summer Forsythia, Pink Plumeria, Wild Verbena, Tahitian Vanilla, Sensual Musk.
Style: Welcoming. Loving. Refreshing.”  Mmmhmmm.
