Recently, Sephora and Ulta both had sales – Sephora had their bi-yearly Spring sale, giving VIB Rouge customers 15% off, and sneaky Ulta came through and sent their customers 20%-off coupons right around the time the Sephora sale started. I see you, Ulta. I see what you’re doing… And I like it.
So I ended up getting a few things from each place. I would have just gotten everything from Ulta at 20% off but they don’t have every brand Sephora does, thus, I split my purchases.
Here is a pic of most of the things I purchased, other than the item directly following. More details below!
Drunk Elephant Acid Trip ($100): I love Drunk Elephant products, and I had just been telling Jill how I wished the C-Firma Day Serum, my current fave Vitamin C serum, came in a slightly smaller container because it would be better for my gym bag. Somewhere out there, our Drunk Elephant Overlords are reading my texts because they decided to include a smaller sized C-Firma in their latest set. Of course, this set came with a few other products as well – the TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum, which I’ve ALWAYS wanted to try, and TLC Sukari Babyfacial, which is a fave of both me and Jill’s. And it also came with a little sample of the Virgin Marula Luxury Facial Oil, which actually comes with Babyfacial when you buy the full-size version. (SEPHORA)
I don’t have a strong opinion about the Glycolic Night Serum yet because I was waiting to finish my current night serum but I do hope that once I start using it, it will start Benjamin Button-ing me immediately. (Thoughts and prayers.) I need to remember to use Babyfacial more regularly since I do own it and it makes my skin so soft and smooth, especially when followed with the oil, tho I don’t always use the oil every time I use Babyfacial.
Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadow ($13): I’ve always heard great things about these Kat Von D Metal Crush shadows but it looks like they are being discontinued so I decided to grab one in the shade Raw Power, which is essentially a red/burgundy color. It’s very pigmented and fairly glittery as well. Temptalia swatched it better than I ever could. I haven’t worn it yet since I’ve had a bunch of different shadows and palettes come in, and I had set this aside to photograph but I look forward to experimenting with it soon! (SEPHORA)
Becca Light Chaser Highlighter in Opal Flashes Jade ($17): This is a highlighter that I have been eyeballing for a long, long time. And since it went on sale for $17, I was like, OK, I have to get it now. Honestly, I am not sure this highlighter even looks good on me. I have to admit it. But I think it is so beautiful that I don’t even care and I will definitely be wearing it anyway. Again, Temptalia does swatches way better than I currently can. But it’s basically kind of a peachy shade with a greenish reflect. It’s kind of magical looking! The Light Chaser highlighters are not the exact same Becca highlighter formula but I still think they are really beautiful. They are a bit buildabile but still give a bright highlight. They still have several shades of these available, and they are a steal at $17! (SEPHORA)
Marc Jacobs Beauty Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner in Blaquer(Berry) ($24): This is a repeat purchase for me. I use this almost every day and because f the packaging, I can’t really tell when I am going to run out, so I needed a backup just in case. I love it because it’s almost black but it’s a dark berry, which I think makes my green eyes pop more than just black. The formula is wonderful – it goes on the waterline so smoothly and stays ALL. DAY. It’s the bomb. (SEPHORA)
Cricket Amped Up Teasing Brush ($4.58): This brush was an impulse purchase but I wanted a slightly better teasing brush than the combs I have already. I’m trying to up my hair teasing/volume game, so I am hoping this will help me! (ULTA)
Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara ($25): I have heard several Influencers mention the Monsieur Big mascara, so I recently got a mini to try it out and I really, really liked it. So I decided to get the full-size version, in addition to a Sephora 500-point perk (below) which contained another mini. Suffice to say, I am not going to run out of mascara anytime soon. I think this gives my lashes definition and volume but leaves my lashes a bit more fluttery than the Too Faced Better Than Sex mascara, which makes them a little more clumpy. (ULTA)
Bare Minerals BARESKIN Complete Coverage Serum Concealer ($21): I have been searching for a new concealer ever since I decided to stop buying from Tarte. I never liked the Tarte Shape Tape but I really like their Rainforest of the Sea Aquacealer ($26). I don’t need a ton of coverage because I don’t have crazy circles but I do want to brighten and moisturize that area, and a lot of concealers leave that area crazy dry. I have found that serum formulas tend to be better for me, and I really, REALLY like this one from Bare Minerals. I actually think it gives me better coverage than the Tarte one and I feel like it wears really well during the day. I think my under-eyes don’t ever look perfect because, let’s face it, they are not, but I do like how they look with this particular concealer. And it’s less expensive than the Tarte one! I’ve heard that the Sephora house brand has a serum concealer also– I’ll be trying that one next. (ULTA)
Ulta Foaming Hand Soap in Sugared Vanilla ($6): I am fairly sure I paid more like $3 because this was on sale. I tend to pick up a hand soap from Ulta whenever I make an order since they are usually on sale. It’s not the best soap in the world, but I do like it and the price is right. They have a ton of scents so I’m sure you’d be able to find one that you like! (ULTA)
As I mentioned above, I cashed in 500 of my Sephora points for this set from Lancome which contains the mascara I’m currently obsessed with along with several other items.
- Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara ($25): (See review above!)
- Lancome Cils Booster XL Super-Enhancing Mascara Base ($25): I have historically not liked these white mascara primers. Like, why in the world do they make them white. It makes it so hard to cover afterwards! Except this one was actually more clear than white, so it wasn’t too hard to cover. And I do feel like it made my lashes look really long. Will I buy a full-size? Nah. I don’t have time for an extra step on the regular. But I’ll use this because I have it!
- Lancome Drama Liqui-Pencil Longwear Eyeliner in Minuit (Black) and Ampoulé (Metallic Purple): Awhile ago, I received the black one in a Play! by Sephora box, and it was honestly one of the longest lasting pencils I have ever used in my life. This eyeliner is a Sephora exclusive and the formula is seriously bomb. Even swatching it on my hand, it will be there for days. And weirdly enough, I had been looking to buy a purple eyeliner, so I’m glad I got one in this formula! I think I am more glad for these pencils than the Monsieur Big mini!
- Lancome Génifique Youth Activating Eye Cream ($67): You know me – I am on the quest to find the perfect eye cream. I will never rest until I find the best one! This stuff is supposed to give a softer, smoother, more youthful look – just like all eye creams, I guess. The texture is really interesting, it’s sort of like a gel cream actually. I like it because it doesn’t make my eye area feel too tight like some eye gels. But I’ve only used it a few times so I don’t know about any long-term effects of smoothing/softening, etc. But it does feel really nice wearing it.
What did you think of my purchases? Did y’all pick up anything in the Ulta/Sephora sales? I want to know what you got! Tell me in the comments below!
