It’s a slow news week, so I thought I’d share a few things I purchased recently from BH Cosmetics and Sigma and let you know what I think!

BH Cosmetics Nouveau Neutrals – 26 Color Shadow & Blush Palette ($16): BH Cosmetics is super affordable, and they recently put out a palette that I was immediately drawn to. Big warm palettes are sort of on their way out but I don’t actually have a big Morphe 35O or anything like that. This palette actually looked like all the best parts of lots of different warm palettes and also threw in some blushes. There are pops of oranges and browns but there are also some pinks and berry tones. There are a few different textures in there: mattes, metallics and soft shimmers. I’ve used this once so far and I really like it! Is it the most versatile palette in the world? Nah. But I really like it and it was $16. You really can’t beat that.

BH Cosmetics Rose Quartz – 9 Piece Brush Set ($10): I have heard that BH Cosmetics brushes are nice so I thought I would get a set and see for myself. These are synthetic brushes, which I’ve been super into lately, as I’ve been enjoying the Colourpop brushes I’ve been trying. I also thought these were super pretty, as they are pink marble and might make for good props in blog pics if I don’t end up using them for makeup. But surprisingly, most of the brushes in this set are unique to my collection so I may end up using most of them.

Sigma Brushes Angelica Nyqvist Favorites Brush Set ($65): I only had one Sigma brush, which is kind of strange considering how popular they are. In terms of price, Sigma brushes definitely aren’t as cheap as Morphe, but they also aren’t luxury brush prices either. They are sort of a mid-price brand, but I’ve always heard their quality is amazing. When one of my favorite YouTubers released a Sigma Favorites set, I thought it was the time to take the bigger plunge and buy a few more brushes!

Angelica Nyqvist is a Swedish YouTuber who is totally and completely adorable. In the scheme of YouTube, she is a smaller YouTuber, but if this collaboration says anything, her star is rising fast! She always does the most fun and colorful eye looks that inspire me all the time. I wish I had her talent because her looks are so incredible! I also just like the things that she says when she talks about makeup from a critical standpoint. She has a “Going On The Wishlist or Nah?” series where she talks about new makeup releases and what she thinks of them, which is always interesting. My favorite is when she looks at a boring beige palette and is like, “Who asked for this? Don’t we all have a boring beige palette already? Who asked for this?!) She’s re-imagined popular palettes with the shades she thought should have been in the palette, based on the collection/packaging/etc. She also frequently talks about her thoughts on YouTube and the beauty community and all in all, I just love her! You should definitely check out some of her videos!

Here’s the video where she describes all the brushes and why she chose them, which I definitely recommend that you watch! A theme on her channel is where she talks about “expansion packs.” In one example, she was talking about the Morphe 35O palette ($23) and the Morphe 35O2 palette ($23). She didn’t think Morphe needed to make another whole 35 pan palette sequel to one of their best selling palettes. Instead, she thought if Morphe just released a 35O expansion pack with like 6 shades, including some of those brighter reds/oranges from the 35O2 palette, it would make so much more sense. It could supplement the palette you already have.

So in that vein, she released an “expansion pack” of brushes. Most of these aren’t your standard blending brushes. Instead the brushes in this set can supplement the basic brushes you already have. I love that idea, so I am happy to have some more unique brushes in my collection and I can’t wait to try them all out. Hopefully, I’ll look just like Angelica. 😉

If you click this link or the one above, it’s the same link Angelica referenced in her video, so she would get credit for the purchase. I had an affiliate link I could have used for Sigma, but I’d rather use Angelica’s link because I want her collaboration to be so successful! The set is currently sold out but they will be re-stocking in the next few days, so def keep an eye out!

Brushes Included in the set:
E20 SHORT SHADER BRUSH – Apply and blend shadows for definition

E25 BLENDING BRUSH – Apply and combine shadow shades

E36 BLENDING BRUSH – Fine, exact crease blending

E45 SMALL TAPERED BLENDING BRUSH – Blend color into crease creating depth

F03 HIGH CHEEKBONE HIGHLIGHTER™ BRUSH – Hit your highpoints for precision highlighting

So that’s what I got this week. Have y’all bought anything fun lately that I should know about? Tell me in the comments!
xo,
Lauren
