For awhile, it was all about the matte liquid lipsticks, but thank goodness that lip gloss is back en vogue, because it’s way more comfortable and easier to wear than liquid lipstick.
I have a few lip glosses that I rotate and wear almost every day to work, so I thought I would share them with you!
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer ($18): I haven’t tried too much from Fenty Beauty (Rihanna’s makeup brand!) yet but if this lipgloss is any indication, I def look forward to trying more of her products. This lipgloss truly is universal because it’s essentially a step up from clear. It has just the slightest peachy tint, and the formula is so smooth, so non-sticky, and it smells AMAZING. It’s sort of a combo of peach and vanilla and something from my childhood that I just can’t place. Every time I wear it, I’m like, “WHAT DOES THIS SMELL LIKE?” I make everyone around me smell it and everyone recognizes it but none of us have been able to place it yet. Do you know? TELL ME. Oh, and I also really love the giant doe-foot applicator – it is such a treat to apply all around. There is currently only the one shade of Gloss Bomb – for now. I saw on TrendMood that Fenty might be coming out with what looks like a clear version? It wasn’t quite clear. But I love this version and will definitely re-purchase when it runs out.
Marc Jacobs Enamored Hi-Shine Lip Lacquer Lipgloss in Skin Deep and Pretty Thing ($28): OK, so I know $28 for a lip gloss is ridic. That is why I currently only have two when I want… most of them. But I love both of the colors I have for different reasons: Skin Deep is more cool-toned and Pretty Thing is a bit warmer so they work for different looks. But I do like the formula of this – it’s a little thicker and stickier than the Fenty Gloss Bomb but it is also more pigmented. There are also a ton of shades to choose from, which is nice. And while it doesn’t last all day like a liquid lipstick, it does have decent staying power for a gloss. I definitely want more of these, but acquiring them will be slow.
Julep So Plush Ultra-Hydrating Lip Gloss in Werk and Vibes ($19): Full disclosure, I got both of these lip glosses back when I had a Julep subscription but I will say that they are definitely worth the $19 you could spend to get them at Ulta (sans subscription). The formula is almost as if the Fenty and the Marc Jacobs lip glosses made a baby – extremely smooth, non-sticky and a bit more pigmented than the Fenty but still sheerer than the Marc Jacobs.
NudeStix Gel Color Lip + Cheek Balm in JMomma and Pulse (not pictured) ($24): This isn’t a gloss in the traditional sense but it definitely acts like one. The name of the product says it’s for cheeks too, but I do not use it for that purpose at all. The color Pulse is the perfect “my lips but better” color. It’s easy to get a good outline since it is technically a lip pencil. The formula is extremely comfortable and it is a bit glossy. It is not exactly long lasting, but it’s easy to re-apply, even without a mirror.
Huda Beauty Lip Strobe in Angelic ($18): This gloss is a bit multidimensional so I don’t love wearing it over my full lips (I’ll be honest, it looks a little strange if I do that) but I prefer to dot it in the middle of my lower lip when I’m wearing a nude-colored lipstick to give it a little extra pop.
And that’s it! What are your favorite glosses! Let me know what I should try next!

Lauren
