Guys, I’ve missed blogging. I have been extremely busy while undergoing a huge life-consuming expansion of the business my husband and I own, and haven’t been able to write as much as I’d like. Life is exciting, but I miss my outlet! Fortunately, Lauren is a legit rockstar and has been killing it solo, but I still miss sharing all my Very Important Opinions with you guys. Today I stomped my foot and declared I would write a couple blogs for y’all, so here I am! It’s a good thing too, because I have a couple of boxes that I looooooooooved!

My Birchbox got lost in the mail this month. For 6 days straight it was “out for delivery”. Lucky for me, it was worth the wait.

BIRCHBOX

Price: $10/month

Box Type: Beauty products, 5-6 deluxe samples

Why you’ll love it: Top brands, good sized samples of solid products. Check out this month’s box:

Birchbox has come a long way in the past year or two. They’ve been slowly changing the way things are run and how reward points are structured, and now they are better than ever. They regularly have huge sales and their product selection has been creeping up toward Sephora-level of inventory. By the time my box finally arrived, they had already released the spoiler video for next month’s sample choice, so I am even MORE excited for next month than this month. You’re killing it, Birchbox!

Anyway, here’s what I got this month:

Beautyblender Original Foam Sampler ($9, this is full-sized!): I love this tiny Beautyblender! I’ve gotten them before in boxes and I thought they were so useless until I actually used one. I like it for spot concealing, but I actually love it most for applying eyeshadow. Stay with me here. Some shadows just go on better if you dampen them first, and then they are difficult to blend out properly. Enter the tiny Beautyblender. It’s small enough so it doesn’t accidentally touch anything on your face, and it is so soft that it just blends everything perfectly. This particular package is supposed to be a mini sample of the real full-sized pink Beautyblender (which is $20), but happens to be nearly identical to the green minis that I linked to in the title, just with a flat edge (which is actually even more useful). So this puppy is $9 retail, which is basically the price of the whole box! YESSSSS.

Red Earth Deep Dive Water Cream ($25 for full-size): I absolutely love gel creams for the summer, they aren’t as heavy as cream moisturizers and they layer well with my other skincare products. I’d like to introduce you to my skin’s best friends: ceramides and collagen, both of which are loaded into this water cream. It’s super hydrating and smoothing, and I am really glad I tried it.

Beautaniq Beauty Glow Serum ($22 for full-size): I am not usually a cream highlighter person, but I was pleasantly surprised by this one! It’s a really pretty champagne/gold color, and it’s not greasy or anything. It blended nicely over my makeup and was very natural looking (natural is my thing!). I tried mixing it into my foundation and found that it gave me a really pretty all over glow that I loved.

R+Co Waterfall Moisture + Shine Lotion ($29 for full-size): This is the only product this month that I’m not head over heels for, but I still like it and will use it. My hair is shiny and smooth naturally, so this shine/smoothing hair lotion isn’t for me, but I tried using it as a leave-in conditioner/detangler and it worked really well! I generally condition my hair in the shower, but if I’m running late and need to get out the door ASAP, this would work in a pinch. It does smell really good!

Davines SU Hair & Body Wash ($24 for full-size): Your hair and your skin have different cleansing and moisturizing needs, so I typically throw a bunch of side eye at all-in-one shower products like this, but leave it to Davines to throw it right back at me and prove me wrong. Both my hair and my skin felt soft and clean after, neither were a mess like I thought they’d be. Plus it smells amazing. Maybe they’re on to something….

Final Rating: A+
I loved this box!! The inclusion of the Beautyblender was awesome, and I discovered a couple of new products that I may end up buying full-sized versions and use them regularly. What did you think of the products this month? Tell us in the comments!

xo,

Jill
