I saw this tag originally recorded by Lauren Mae Beauty, and I thought it was so much fun, that I wanted to blog about it as well. The tag was originally created by a YouTuber named DreaCN, and her video is here. But as I was watching the video, I immediately texted Jill the questions and she got really excited about it, too. So she may end up sharing her answers in a future blog, which will be fun, since our makeup preferences are so different!

1. What is the very next makeup item you’re planning on buying?

I am looking at the Too Faced Gingerbread Spice Palette ($49), and I want it SO BAD. As a beauty junkie, it’s a little strange that I have never owned a Too Faced palette, so this might be the first! Their typical holiday palettes have never appealed to me, but this looks more like their regular, Chocolate Bar-shaped palettes. Sometimes I worry that holiday palettes aren’t the same quality as the regular, permanent palettes, so I am waiting for some YouTube reviews to come through before I make the purchase. (Edit: Future Lauren did not wait to buy it, just bought it immediately when it came to Sephora. I’m currently testing it out, full review to come later!)

2. If you could walk into Sephora TODAY and buy any one item (regardless of budget), what would it be?

Ironically, I DID walk into Sephora TODAY. However, weirdly, I bought nothing. I know, who am I? I actually went to the store at 8:30am before they opened because I was invited to a special Sephora Rouge event, to preview the holiday sets before they go on sale to the masses. However, I was so disappointed because the store I went to hardly had any of the holiday stuff, and they definitely didn’t have anything I wanted. But I had to return a few things, so I guess it wasn’t a total waste.

However… back to the original question. I think if money was no object, I think I would buy the Pat McGrath Mothership V Eyeshadow Palette ($129). It is just undeniably beautiful.

3. What is the oldest item on your Sephora Loves List?

It took me a REALLY long time to scroll to the bottom of my Sephora Loves List, so it’s definitely time for a purge, but curiously, the product is the mini version of the Benefit They’re Real mascara ($13), which I actually don’t like very much. After looking at this, I removed it from my Loves List. #Bye

4. What is the newest item on your Sephora Loves List?

The Dior Backstage Face & Body Foundation ($40) is the newest product on my Sephora Loves List. I am verrrrrrry intrigued about this foundation, and I really wish that the Sephora by my house actually carried it because I would love to try a sample. I might go to a different Sephora to try and get a sample of it because I’m not really sure what shade I would be, and it’s pretty expensive so I want to ensure I like to formula before I shell out $40!

5. What Perfume is on the top of your wishlist?

Commodity Velvet ($105) is at the very, very top of my wish list. I got this as a free sample with a recent order and while I typically think perfume samples are fine, this one really stopped me in my tracks and I immediately added the little travel version to my cart. Like within moments of smelling it. I had Matt come over right then and smell it also, and he was like, “Buy that.” And so… I ended up buying the small, travel size ($26) during the VIB Rouge sale, and I think I will get the full-size for Christmas.

Here’s the description on the Sephora site, which describes it better than I ever could. It’s such a warm, Fall/Winter scent. It just makes me feel warm and cozy, and I love it.

Commodity Velvet is mysterious and elegant. This fragrance evokes the pure indulgence of a soft texture meeting bare skin. Its woody oriental blend is infused with roasted almond, rose petals, and black amber.

In the meantime, I also got Commodity Velvet in my Scentbird subscription, which I will either link to if I have already posted it or you’ll see it within the next week!

6. What is the new release you’re looking most forward to?

As I mentioned previously, that Too Faced Gingerbread Palette is exciting me quite a bit. However, there are a few other holiday releases I’m excited about. I was VERY excited about the BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector Highlighter Mini Macaron Set ($40), and I was hoping that it would have been in Sephora today because I have been thinking about it for weeks! Of course, they did not have it there, but I was able to buy it online when I was sitting in Starbucks afterwards, so all was not lost. I don’t have it yet, so I’m still v excited about it. 🙂 (Edit: Future Lauren does have the mini highlighter set and it does not disappoint!) There is also a Stila highlighting palette and a NARS highlighting palette that aren’t out yet that I’m hoping to receive for Christmas. I love holiday makeup releases!

7. Are there any drugstore products you want but haven’t yet pulled the trigger on?

I have been very interested in the Maybelline Master Blur Stick ($9.99) because it’s supposed to be a dupe for the NudeStix Nudies Tinted Blur Stick ($30). I ended up throwing it in with one of my recent Ulta orders from the 21 Days of Beauty. I got it in the Light shade, but I haven’t received it yet so I’m not sure how I feel about it yet. But otherwise, nothing from the drugstore has really been calling to me.

8. The eyeshadow palette you’re lusting over the most.

We have already discussed the Too Faced Gingerbread Spice, but Colourpop actually came out with the Good Sport palette ($16) recently that looks kind of weird but it’s also really, really intriguing me. In fact, I almost bought it today, but I stopped myself for some reason. Those weird chartreuse greens are really calling to me for some reason. This is just a really unique palette to me, and I honestly don’t have much like it in my collection, so I think it would add value for me.

9. Product you’re waiting for your next birthday/Christmas to ask for.

I was literally just talking about this with my friend Loren, but I think I might finally ask for the Natasha Denona Lila palette ($129) for Christmas. I’ve wanted it for SO long now, and I still sometimes stare at it longingly.

The other thing that I think about a lot is upgrading my Clarisonic to the Mia Smart 3-in-1 Connected Sonic Beauty Device ($199). I still have the original Clarisonic, but I kind of want to use some of the newer brush heads they’ve come out with – like the firming massage head or the foundation brush. Those brush heads don’t work on my original Clarisonic, which is a bummer.

10. What is the item that you’re dying to have that is not available in your country/area?

The brands Nabla and Zoeva are a few that I don’t really see a lot about because they are European brands. I have purchased some Zoeva brushes but I am definitely interested in trying more of their makeup, it’s just so hard to get it because it’s literally shipped from Europe. I haven’t ever bought anything from Nabla but I am really interested in the brand, and hopefully in the future, I can try some of their products!

11. What is the thing that you really want but you’ll never buy because its “too expensive”?

While that Natasha Denona Lila palette is hella expensive at $129, I think that the Eyeshadow Palette 28 aka the Green/Brown palette is RIDICULOUSLY expensive at $239. I can’t imagine paying that much for colored powder. It’s just too much.

12. If there was a beauty product Genie who could grant you one wish, what would you wish for?

I would honestly wish for more blog readers and Instagram followers. Does that count? Because with more followers, I’d be able to have more opportunities in the whole beauty sphere, which is ultimately what I would want.

Jill! You’re up! And anyone else who wants to play!

xo,
Lauren

All opinions are my own.

A self-proclaimed beauty junkie/hoarder with a serious Sephora problem. This blog is a total rationalization of that problem. Everything is TOTALLY fine. Her free time is a mixed combination of making fun of reality TV with her husband, hanging out with cats and finally trying to figure out how to do her hair.

2 Comments on Makeup On My Mind… The Makeup Wish List Tag

  1. I am looking forward to your review of the Too Faced Gingerbread Spice Palette, because I have been eyeing that, too.
I have been wondering why Sephora doesn’t offer a true wishlist feature on its site. “Loves” doesn’t cut it as a wishlist.
