Urban Decay recently released their Naked Cherry palette ($49) and I was… underwhelmed. I have every Urban Decay palette and so it sort of hurts my OCD soul to not collect them all, but I realized I have enough single shades to make my own version of the Naked Cherry palette. And I realized I would be much happier with my own version than the one that’s currently on the market. The packaging of the Urban Decay palette is freaking gorgeous but the palette doesn’t even have a RED. WHAT?! IT’S CHERRY.

Read on to see what MY Naked Cherry palette would look like!

My palette contains 18 shades because this is my palette and I do what I want. I first posted these shadows and swatches on my Instagram Stories (and you can still see them, as I’ve saved them to the “Swatches” category on my Instagram page.) A few of the shades I included are no longer available but I tried to find similar colors for you, just in case you were interested in buying a few.)

The first three shades I wanted to start with were three duochromes from Devinah. I actually got these three in their Bad Girls bundle ($64), but the three I selected all have a peachy or pinky shift which and I feel like they would all add a little something extra to a basic look. These are probably the most expensive shadows in the palette, but the pan sizes are GIANT, so I will never run out of these in my lifetime.

So, as you might have noticed, I have a bunch of lighter matte pinks in there, and at first glance, a lot of them look alike, but the undertones ARE different, so you could use the different light pinks for different looks. You could take it really peachy or you could take it more burgandy red so you have options. Also, these shades are great for more natural, every day looks, or they can enhance a smokier halo eye. The world is your oyster! I think in the swatches, Pep Talk and In the Spotlight look very similar, but Pep Talk is definitely lighter and brighter, so it makes for a great inner corner highlight pop. In my day-to-day life, I will wear Grandstand all over my lid and pop In the Spotlight in the center, and it looks very natural and glossy without having to add any of those actual messy eye glosses.

Here is a video that has all of the swatches on my arms, if you are curious.

I thought it was important to add a red, and Passion is so very beautiful. I couldn’t make it look as red on camera as it is in person, because I feel like it looks kind of brown in pictures. But I promise – it’s a gorgeous garnet-esque foiled red, which I think the Naked Cherry palette is lacking. I also really like Going Steady, which can provide another pop of color, or you can throw it in the crease. Bitten is a gorgeous cherry cola-esque shade, so we obviously needed that. Showtime is such a gorgeous foiled burgundy, so I thought that would look beautiful all over the lid with one of the duochromes in the inner corner. The possibilities are endless!

What do you think? Would you rather have MY version of Naked Cherry? Or do you like the one that Urban Decay created? Let me know in the comments!

xo,
Lauren
