As I write this blog on Sunday, we are in the midst of the last VIB Rouge 20% off sale of the year. However, most disappointingly, the things that I’ve been waiting to buy with a discount are ALL sold out, and have been for weeks. I’ve written to Sephora via Twitter to express my disappointment, because I would understand if it was just one or two products but ALL of the ones I wanted to buy? Boooooo. And Sephora has so few sales that it’s ridiculous that their virtual shelves are essentially empty when it actually counts. That said, I’ll likely get these things for Christmas at full-price if I have to, if they ever come back in stock.
Pat McGrath Mothership V Eyeshadow Palette – Bronze Seduction ($125): I have eyeballed Pat McGrath products for awhile. I got one single shadow pigment set a few years ago, when her brand was just starting out, but I haven’t tried any of her eyeshadow palettes, but I think now is the time. The palette has a lot of neutral shades that I think I will get a lot of use out of, and a few duochromes and that RED! I love it. And at $125, it isn’t a palette I will just buy for myself every day – this is a special Christmas palette to me. So I am excited to get it… if it ever comes back in stock.
These swatches are just magical, aren’t they? Pat McGrath’s marketing is pretty genius. I’m all in for it.
NARS Hot Tryst Cheek Palette ($59): I don’t tend to love blush palettes because there are usually a few tones that I won’t ever use, but I am absolutely in love with this. The packaging is gorgeous. And the inside blushes aren’t crazy pigmented, which is what I prefer. I want a wash of color, not a blob of hot pink on my cheeks. I just love everything about this. Of course, it’s out of stock. (Grrr.)
Smashbox Buildable Cheek Brush ($36) Smashbox Precise Highlight Brush ($28) Smashbox Sheer Powder Brush ($40): These are expensive brushes. But they are UNIQUE brushes. I wish they sold them at Sephora because I tend to lose sight of them, however, at Macy’s you can get them on sale a bit more regularly! (They are actually on sale now, but I just listed the full price.) The Sheer Powder Brush and Buildable Cheek Brushes are essentially the same except the powder one is bigger. The highlighter brush just looks like the PERFECT size brush for precise placement. I have so many makeup brushes but I’m trying to be a bit smarter about the brushes I add to my collection, and to ensure I’m getting brushes that add something to my collection versus redundancy. And these fit the bill.
While I wasn’t able to get my faves during the Sephora sale, I did pick up a few things so when they come in, I’ll review a few of the things I have purchased and been enjoying lately! Keep an eye out for that in the next week or so!
