My favorite box, the Allure Beauty Box, has rebranded! And what a way to kick it off – I thought LAST month’s box was incredible, but January is giving it a run for its money. Intrigued? Read on to see why this is still the best box ever.

ALLURE BEAUTY BOX

Price: $15.00/month

Box Type: Monthly beauty box featuring 6 high-end beauty product samples (and sometimes full-sized products!).

Why you’ll love it: Top brands, great price, new products that you will love! A great way to sample expensive products without committing to the price tag. Each box comes with an Allure mini-magazine that showcases each product and is as quality as you’d expect from a magazine powerhouse like Allure.

So, this is new! In the past, the products came in their signature red Allure Beauty Box, but now, the products are going to come in a little red pouch! I’m not sure how I feel about this, tbh. I thought the boxes were fairly useful for storage or for gifts. (Or just super easy to recycle.) I don’t really need any new makeup pouches, but who knows, maybe I will find these useful? Or I might just put them straight into the recycling. Especially this first one, because it came to me completely ripped open on one side.

See? the side was just split wide open. But like I said, I really don’t care about the pouch at all, so I don’t mind recycling it. But I’m still sort of like, “Who asked for this?” Who wants a cheaply made pouch? Like I would understand getting one, once. But who needs a subscription of 12 of the same cheap pouches? Shrug. Not me.

The mini-mag remains unchanged. I still think it’s the best box insert on the market, as I enjoy hearing from Allure editors on why they enjoy the different products in the box. (The brushes were not in the box, I’m just using them for props because I think they are pretty.)

And heeeeere is everything! Y’all. This is an insanely high-value box for just $15. THERE IS A FULL-SIZE SUNDAY RILEY PRODUCT. That alone is $80. And then there are three other full-sized products. Let’s get into the deets.

Product Info + Review

Sunday Riley C.E.O. Glow Face Oil ($80): So this product isn’t even available yet! Allure Beauty Box subscribers got it first, which is insane. Y’all know the Sunday Riley Luna Night Oil ($105), and this seems like an oil I can alternate in with that one! I am planning to use this at night, because it doesn’t seem to absorb really fast, which would be necessary for me to wear under makeup. But y’all. We got an $80 Sunday Riley product for $15. High-five. Here’s what the Sunday Riley site said about it:

Instantly absorbing, with advanced Vitamin C (THD Ascorbate), turmeric, and evening primrose oil, to brighten, hydrate, and glow. Recharge your radiance with this glow-giving Vitamin C oil. Advanced Vitamin C, blended in a base of cold-pressed, red raspberry and evening primrose seed oils, gives your skin a fresh burst of luminosity. Golden turmeric extract, rich in antioxidants and calming compounds, improves the look of skin evenness. Quickly-absorbing, C.E.O. Glow Oil sinks in and delivers a healthy-looking luster.

My only concern is around the Vitamin C, as I’ve heard that particular ingredient is very unstable, so it typically has to be in darker, air-tight packaging. My concern is around the see-through glass bottle, not to mention the dropper format, versus a pump. Obviously it will be exposed to air this way, so I’m not sure how it will affect the Vitamin C. Will the Vitamin C be as potent? I’m not sure. Just something to note. I am going to use this and see how it works though!

Sunday Riley A+ High-Dose Retinoid Serum ($85): I’ve seen this serum advertised previously and I have been really interested. I’ve been dealing with a cystic situation on my chin which WILL. NOT. GO. AWAY. and I am wondering if a bit of this serum will help? That’s really how I’ll be using this, as I don’t think I’ll use it all over my face at first, since I only have a little bit, but I’m interested in how strong this is, and how my skin will react. Like I said, I love the Luna Night Oil, which has a retinol in it, but has never been super irritating on me, but I have a feeling this is stronger.

Ouai Scalp & Body Scrub ($38): This is an interesting product, as it’s supposed to gently exfoliate and unclog buildup on your scalp. However, you can also use it as a body scrub as well.

Amika Soulfood Nourishing Mask ($28): I am VERY excited about this hair mask, as I have been using these a lot since my hair has been bleached. I do my best to not wash my hair very often, but I feel like all of the products and the dry shampoo can make my hair kind of crunchy, so I rely on hair masks to bring it back to life. I just ran out of a conditioner I was using, so I’m going to pop this right in the shower.

NCLA Nail Polish in Hey Doll ($16): So. This wasn’t in the mini-mag, so I’m wondering if this was a gift for some reason? Maybe a referral gift? I’m unclear. But this is a pretty, bright polish in a color I don’t tend to grab for, so this might be fun for my toes in the summer. I like the nail oils NCLA has, and I think the only polish I have ever received from them was a very specific red, white and blue glitter. You don’t wear that kind of polish every day and then you forget you own it until right now. So I’m interested in seeing what the formula is like!

Mally Shadow Stick Extra in Burnished Bronze ($25): I don’t tend to reach for shadow sticks, but I think they would probably make for a pretty fast, “one-and-done” kind of look. This bronze isn’t super red-based, so I may even try to use this as more of a smoky eyeliner with a more brown/natural look. And y’all, this is another full-size product, if you are keeping track.

Doucce Relentless Matte Lip Crayon in Winterberry ($22): Allure definitely keeps pushing the Doucce brand and they haven’t sold me on it yet. I don’t know why, but I’m just not super attracted to the products or the branding. This looks very similar to some NARS or NUDESTIX matte lipsticks, but I have a feeling this is going in my giveaway bag, because I just don’t think I am going to gravitate to it with all of the other lipsticks/glosses I have that I like more than this type of product. But I will say, it’s rad that Allure included ANOTHER full-size item.

Final Grade: A+
