Hello! It’s November Birchbox time already! I feel like I just posted my October review. Probably because it wasn’t that long ago!  This month’s Birchbox collaboration is with Tati, aka the Glam Life Guru. I have to admit that this was the first time I had heard of The Glam Life Guru. It seems like she’s some kind of YouTube gal? YouTube is one of those things that I have such a hard time getting into. I watch a few videos here and there, but I don’t really hardcore follow anyone. Do y’all have any favorite YouTube people I should check out? Is The Glam Life Guru worth my time? Let me know in the comments.

Initial thoughts on Tati of The Glam Life Guru: Beautiful Hair. Beautiful makeup. I would probably listen to what this chick has to say. Birchbox sends out deluxe, high-end samples at $10/month. One of the great things about Birchbox is you can earn points which translates to money to spend in their store where you can purchase full-sized items beauty and lifestyle items just by giving some feedback about what you received. This is how I rationalize purchasing this ridiculous Oribe Dry texturizing spray, since I usually save at least $10 because of my points. Somehow, paying $32 on a hair product makes me feel a lot better than $42, which is just bananas. (HAVE YOU FOUND A DRUGSTORE DUPLICATE FOR THIS PRODUCT? LET ME KNOW.)

Let’s see what I got this month…

They included a a note from our gal Tati. She talks about how she helped curate a collection with Birchbox’s new makeup line, LOC (Love of Color) which is kind of neat. I got one of the products from the line in my box, so I was excited to try it.
Have I mentioned I like the packaging from Birchbox? It just makes it more fun.

Here’s everything I got this month!

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo ($22/full-size)

I’ve been cautiously optimistic about this dry shampoo. It’s not a volumizing dry shampoo like my very favorite but it won an Allure Best of Beauty Award because it’s the first dry shampoo to actually sort of clean hair. Check out the product description:

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo contains fast-absorbing powders that soak up oil and sweat. Great for all hair types and colors, a patented OFPMA molecule reduces the surface friction on hair—leaving virtually no visible residue or powdery build-up—making it easy to remove the powder. Odor neutralizers eliminate unwanted smells, and a time-release fragrance releases a light, refreshing, long-lasting scent.

Like I said, this isn’t volumizing, but it definitely made my hair look and feel cleaner. And the smell was terrific.

Avène Hydrance Optimale Hydrating Serum ($36)

I don’t have really strong feelings about this serum yet but I am interested in this brand, ever since I got their Cleanance Gel Cleanser in my August Allure Beauty Box. Back in August, I hadn’t had a chance to use it regularly, but it’s been my shower face washing staple as of late. While it is meant for acne-prone skin, it doesn’t dry out my dry skin. I do get the occasional blemish so I feel like this cleanser is helping to keep it under control. I realize this is unhelpful for the serum, but what I’m trying to say is that I am beginning to trust this brand so I think the serum could be good. First impressions are that it’s clear, not too much of a scent, and it feels very moisturizing. I haven’t had a chance to wear it under makeup yet but I think if you give it a few minutes to sink in, it should work beautifully!

LOC One & Done Shadow Stick – Day Trip ($10/full-size)

This is one of the products from Birchbox’s new makeup line, LOC (Love of Color.) I’m not entirely sure, but I think this is actually the full-size product. I am also pretty sure I chose this shade. As I write this, I am kind of sick, getting over a cold, so my memory of what sample I chose is less than great. But regardless if I chose it or not, I love this color!

LOC One & Done Shadow Stick – Day Trip ($10/full-size)

I’m loving brownish/goldish shadows right now. They tend to look fantastic with my green eyes. And this has GREAT staying power. I think it also looks great on the inner corners of the eyes, giving them that little bit of sparkle.

 Jouer Lip Enhancer (full-size $16)

This stuff is better than a lip balm but also better than a clear lip gloss. It feels incredibly hydrating but not sticky. It’s great for those no-makeup days when you just want a bit of SOMETHING. The hydrating/glossy feeling lasts for a really long time. I’m not sure if I will throw down for a full-size version but I’m becoming increasingly impressed with Jouer products.

Shiseido Ultimune Eye Power Infusing Eye Concentrate ($65/full-size)

This stuff is ULTRA moisturizing. However, I think it’s a little TOO slick to wear under eye makeup, so I think it’s best for at night. You definitely want a lot of moisture around the eye area so this isn’t a bad thing. You only need a tiny bit of this luxe cream so I think I will get some great use out of this sample!

Final Grade: A

This has been my favorite Birchbox in a really long time! I’m positive that I am going to use every single one of these samples until they are gone and I may even buy some full-sized versions! (I’m looking at you, Living Proof Dry Shampoo.) I think I chose this box for the Living Proof Dry Shampoo anyway because I had heard such great things about it from Allure, so I was fired up to try it, plus I got a whole box full of other things! Super big win for me. I’m also cautiously optimistic about Birchbox’s new makeup line, LOC. The shadow stick was really nice so I may try a lip product at some point.
