• Ok, lesbionest. I’m having a real big girl crush on Gwen Stefani. I mean, I wasn’t sure I could love her any more and then I started watching this season of The Voice and it was love all over again. I’m now going to share you my second biggest life regret. (My first was not filling in my eyebrows until last year.) When I was a freshman in high school, I had the opportunity to go to a No Doubt concert. This was a big deal for me. I had gotten permission from my parents and they were going to drive me as long as I found a friend to go. HOWEVER. I was the New Girl and the few friends I had didn’t think No Doubt was cool and so I didn’t get to go. Not a year goes by when I don’t think about how awesome it would have been to see No Doubt in the 90’s. But at least now I get to hang out with Gwen Stefani when I watch The Voice and it’s helping to salve that wound. #neverforget (Also hometown hero, Luke Wade kicked off the season premiere and he was awesome! All the judges turned around and it was magical.)

  • I just discovered a band! I don’t do much band discovery these days (you can read about my love for Taylor Swift here) but I used to be a Cool Girl. I used to spend my time finding the coolest, least known bands and see them before anyone else did. Everyone got mix CD’s for Christmas. This was very important to me. It is much less important to me today but the band Radical Face made me feel like a Cool Girl again. They come on my Rilo Kiley Pandora station and I finally decided to listen to the full album on Spotify and I love it. The songs just feel warm and a bit haunting. I’ve mostly been listening to their 2011 album The Family Tree: The Roots. I encourage you all to check it out. If there is an album that sounds like Autumn, if that was such a thing, it would be this one.

  • This Pearl Orwell Bib necklace from Baublebar. By the time this blog is published I may or may not have it already. It’s pretty amazing and I am going to wear it with everything. EVERYTHING. Every grey t-shirt I own will now be adorned with this gorgeous necklace. This is from Emma Watson’s guest bartender collection at Baublebar which is all very awesome. Click here if you’ve never bought anything at Baublebar for my invite link. And Baublebar uses ebates. Why do you hate free money so much? Click here to sign up for ebates.

  • I have made an amazing discovery. And as I type that, I realize “learning what’s going on in the world” is not a real “discovery” per se. But I have discovered TheSkimm.com. I’ve never been great at reading/watching the news. I used to try to do it by subscribing to TIME but I ended up not reading most of the magazines I got. I used to try to read Huffington Post on my lunch hour but I would get overwhelmed and not really know where to start. My friend Ashley and I are constantly texting each other trying to figure out what’s going on with current events and we are sadly and embarrassingly uninformed. BUT NOT ANYMORE. The Skimm is founded by two girls in their 20’s who basically send you the news in an email every morning and they tell you the major points of what’s going on in the world. And it’s explained to me in a way that feels like a friend telling me what’s going on in the world. It’s not dumbed down but it’s more conversational. It’s pretty revolutionary to me and I could not be more excited about learning about the news. Maybe y’all will like it also!

  1. I don’t know it is possible for Gwen to be even cooler on the Voice than I thought she’d be, as my expectations of her coolness were very high, but she is!
