Friday Favorites: Liebster Award

Jill and I were excited to be nominated for the Liebster Award by Meganxo from her Fashion and Beauty Blog!

Liebster Award Rules:

• Nominate 11 blogs to receive the award who have less than 1000 followers. (Lauren’s note: I honestly don’t know if the people I nominated have more or less than 1000 followers. We just nominated the blogs we like!)

Here are the questions Megan gave us!

1.What is your favorite thing about your blog?

Lauren: I love that we’ve basically turned getting presents into a hobby. I love makeup and subscription boxes and I feel like this gives me an outlet with those things. While I know I’m not changing the world, I feel like people who have common interests can learn things from us. It’s fun!

Jill: I love that I now have an official reason for talking about how much I love researching, subscribing to, and receiving subscription boxes. It’s a fun hobby that gives me an outlet for my many opinions, and best of all I get to do it with Lauren!

2.What is your dream job?

Lauren: My dream job is to make money from this blog. Haha. But really, being paid to write in any capacity would be really great.

Jill: Is it weird to say I feel like I already have my dream jobs? I own a store with my fiance and I also do a ton of freelance graphic design. I work for myself and make my own rules.

3.If you could only use one makeup item for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Lauren: THIS IS SO HARD. I am going to make an assumption that chapstick doesn’t count. I think I would probably say my Tarte eyebrow mousse. Too many years went by with invisible brows. Never again.

Jill: Lip balm. I was going to say Tarte eyebrow mousse because it is literally the only makeup I wear, but Lauren stole my answer. Lip balm is a close second, because I hate the feeling of dry lips (gross). I own enough EOS balms to fill a ball pit.

4.What is your favorite genre of music?

Lauren: Basically the Rilo Kiley Pandora station. I don’t like a whole lot of music made after 2007. But I love the mix of Rilo Kiley, Death Cab, Tegan and Sara, Shins, Band of Horses, etc. Basically aging hipster genre. These days I am counting the days til TSwift releases 1989.

Jill: Norwegian death metal. I’m kidding! Really it’s Swedish death metal. (ok, it’s anything on the William Elliott Whitmore Pandora station. I’m a folk/indie rock girl.)

5.What is your favorite holiday?

Lauren: I have always loved Christmas. I love that it’s a holiday that has its own music devoted to it. And I love it all! I started listening to Mariah Carey Christmas last week. I love the whole feeling of that time of year. I’m excited to celebrate my first Christmas with Matt (who will be my husband then!)

Jill: Lauren keeps stealing all of my answers. This is probably why we’re friends, having so much in common. Christmas is the best, it combines presents, cold weather, family, spiked drinks, cookies, AND Target always comes out with a line of dog holiday sweaters that I can torture my dog with. What’s not to love?

6.If you could travel to any place in the world, where would it be?

Lauren: Unlike Jill, I am shamefully ill traveled. I have never left the country and I do not own a passport. So I think I would like to start with a country where I knew the language, like England or Ireland. I love the romance of Paris but Eat Pray Love made me intrigued by Bali as well. Though I’m hoping to go to Hawaii to a nice beach resort in a year or so for a real honeymoon.

Jill: Hmmmm. I have been all over the world, and I love each region for different reasons, so this is a tough one. I would probably go with Southeast Asia because the people, food, culture, and backdrop are just amazing. There’s also something really adventurous about going to a place where you can get grilled bugs as a snack and having to get a bunch of vaccines in order to go.

7.What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

Lauren: Nothing. Seriously, I love when I am at home and can just watch TV, read, knit, anything I want. I love days when I can just go from one leisure activity to the next. I like to get as much stuff done during the week so I can have Nothing weekends as often as I can.

Jill: Travel, shop, cook, eat, TV. In that order.

8.What is your favorite TV show?

Lauren: This is hard. If I think ALL TIME, there are a few: Veronica Mars, Alias, Gilmore Girls, West Wing, Friday Night Lights. Currently on: The Good Wife, Grey’s Anatomy, GIRLS, Game of Thrones. (weird, all G’s.) There has been too much great TV in the world to narrow this down to one show. 🙂

Jill: Favorite TV show of all time is Breaking Bad. No question. But I do love me some Dance Moms.

9.If you could steal one celebrities wardrobe, who’s would it be and why?

Lauren: I would actually like to steal a few TV characters’ wardrobes: Ellen Parsons from Damages and Mindy from Mindy Project. They both do Work clothing very differently: Ellen very grown up and lawyer-ly but pretty. And Mindy is colorful and all over the place but fun. I like both.

Jill: Lauren broke the rules and named two, so I will as well. Zooey Deschanel’s character from The New Girl (I don’t watch it, but I love her clothes), and Mindy Kaling’s from The Mindy Project. If I woke up with either of these wardrobes my life would be complete.

10.What is your favorite color?

Lauren: Grey and kelly green.

Jill: I can’t say I have a favorite color, but favorite combinations of colors. Yellow and gray. Navy and gold. Cobalt blue and coral.

11.What is the best makeup/hair product you’ve ever bought and why?

Lauren: I think I would say my Naked 2 palette. I got it a year or so ago and I still haven’t hit pan and I use it every day. I can use it for everything. Work and going out. I really feel like my options are pretty limitless here.

Jill: The Beachwaver. It basically takes all of the work and hassle out of perfect beach waves and it is worth every penny. It’s a lot of pennies, but I regret nothing.
