Hello! It’s March Birchbox time! I subscribed to Birchbox again at a good time because I am receiving the prettiest boxes ever. I think I read somewhere that their goal is for everyone to keep their boxes this year. This month, the theme is Creativity. On the back of their product description card, they asked you to fill out the blank in ” I feel most creative when I __________.” Then you can upload your answer to social media for a chance to win full sizes of all the products in your box! I want to win! For $10/mo,Birchbox will send you a box of beauty samples, with the occasional full size product thrown in. It’s one of the first subscription boxes and they have this down to a science now. They always have a card that describes the products even tho each box can vary wildly. (Hear that, ipsy?)
Let’s see what they sent this month!
Smashbox Cosmetics Be Legendary Lip Gloss in Disco Rose (full size $20): Smashbox is a very reputable makeup brand so I am always excited to receive something from them. Normally, when a box (any box, not just Birchbox) sends out fancy brands in their boxes, I tend to get the weird color that never works for me. But in this case, I got a color that actually looks pretty great on me. It’s a light berry color that would be great at work.
Jelly Pong Pong Glow Getter Highlighter (full size $14): This is the product that surprised me the most out of the box. I originally heard of Jelly Pong Pong in a different box where I had wrongly initially assumed this was an Asian brand when in fact it’s based in London. I’ve received so many highlighters in boxes but this one is probably one of the better ones. It actually looks like an exact dupe for High Beam from Benefit. Dewy, glow-y skin is always on trend when the weather gets warmer and a little bit of this will go a long way.
Macadamia Natural Oil (full size $36): This stuff smells REALLY good. I was going to use it but then I decided to give it to my pal who has courser hair than I do because I think she will really like it. I almost wanted to keep it because it smelled so good tho. Maybe I will win the full size of it via the instagram contest!
Amika Bombshell Blowout Spray (full size: $24): I’ve actually received this product from another box before. I think prior to when I started this blog, so I was already a little familiar with the product. I really like blow drying sprays but I can never really tell if it makes my hair “bouncier” or have more volume. I am not great at drying my own hair so I don’t blame the product.
Harvey Prince Sincerely perfume (full size $55): I am pretty terrible at describing scents but this immediately reminded me of Dimetapp. You know, that “grape” tasting medicine you take when you’re a kid. Birchbox says this: Sweetly spicy scent with Indonesian clove bud, Indian tuberose and Japanese orange flower.
Final Grade: A
I’m rating this month’s Birchbox an A! I loved the lipgloss, the highlighter, the blowout spray and even the hair mask even though I am giving it away to a friend of mine. The only thing I didn’t really care for was the Harvey Prince Dimetapp smelling perfume. I don’t like receiving perfume samples from Birchbox at all, so that pretty much goes without saying, even if it didn’t smell like Dimetapp.
I think you should all subscribe to Birchbox now so you can get in on all these great products in addition to the pretty boxes they are sending out this year! Click here to subscribe!
