Last week, Jill wrote about her favorite Spring Fashion trends which inspired me to write about my favorite Spring makeup trends!

DEWY, NATURAL SKIN

One of the biggest shifts from Winter to Spring is the emergence of skin! Out with the full coverage foundations, in with sheer, dewy, glow-y skin. I have found the perfect product for this in bareMinerals’ Complexion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Cream. When I first heard about this “gel cream” I didn’t really know what to think. Gel cream is sort of an oxymoron. Gel moisturizers are typically for oily skin while creams are thicker and for dry skin. But this Gel cream is a weird, VERY MOISTURIZING hybrid of the two. This gel cream is very sheer so if you have any blemishes, you’ll need a separate concealer, but this will make your skin radiant on first application and it will continue to improve your skin’s texture! That’s neat.

CREAM BLUSH

Now that your skin is all dewy and natural, you don’t want to put a powder blush on top of that! You want to continue that natural look with a cream blush. There are several new ones I want to try like Bare Minerals Pop of Passion Blush Balm in Papaya Passion, and Josie Maran’s Infinity Lip and Cheek Creamy Oil in Endless Guava but I’ve always been a fan of tarte’s cheek stains.

BROWN EYE SHADOW

I know brown eye shadow sounds boring– but Urban Decay has been working tirelessly the past few years to make it cool again with their Naked line. Right now, I’m more into shimmery, smolder-y browns instead of flat matte browns. The original Naked palette is pretty fantastic for this. While these palettes are pretty steep at $54, they will last years and years. I actually never invested in the original Naked palette but I think that it’s probably time that I did. The colors are always so pigmented and a little goes a long way. In the meantime, I’ve also been using the brown “Barlust” in the UD Smoked palette (which is unfortunately no longer for sale– hope you picked it up when it was like $10 at Ulta like I did!)

BERRY LIPS

Berry lips have been all the rage this winter but now, like everything else, they are sheering up a bit. Let go of the velvet and matte finishes of winter and embrace the sheer, pretty berries like Fresh’s Sugar Lip Treatment in Sugar Berry. This will give a sheer wash of color in a way that looks a bit more relaxed and undone.

STRONG BROWS

Keep your eyebrow game strong, ladies. Strong eyebrows will continue to be as ubiquitous as Cara Delevingne in the coming season. (Seriously, that girl is EVERYWHERE and her brows are fierce. I love her but seriously, how many fashion beauty campaigns can a gal do at once? Get that money, girl.)

I have probably talked about it before but my favorite product for brows is Tarte’s Amazon Clay Waterproof Brow Mousse. I feel like this stuff is idiot proof AND it comes with a really nice brush that helps make application easy. I wear the medium brown shade. I think if you dye your hair, your brows should still be your natural hair color so they look more natural on your face. I have tried lighter colors but I think they look a bit strange so that would be my recommendation to you. Julep is also coming out with some brow products that Jill and I will be getting and reviewing in April so stay tuned for that!
