Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of a “real” blog post today but I’ve been sick with laryngitis and some congestion so I haven’t been able to fully review the Influenster Spice Vox Box I received. But keep an eye out for my review of that to come!
But now, I have a confession to make to y’all. I cannot really do my hair. I feel like I am the go-to gal about makeup and products but with my own hair, I really struggle! So I have been trying to watch different YouTube tutorials about how to blow dry your hair. To give you some background, I have naturally very straight, flat, color-treated hair. Right now, it’s a little bit past my shoulders, so it’s a little long. I have always just rough dried my hair upside down and either just sort of brushed it and left (with questionable results) or curled it to make it look a little better. But I’m trying to learn how to create my own “blow out,” by using the right products, brushes, etc. So… that is my journey. Jill has tried to point me in the right direction with some of her tips.
While some of these aren’t blow out videos per se, these were a few I really liked as I am trying to figure out the right products and tools for doing my hair! I hope you enjoy them!
This is a video about how Tati (aka The Glam Life Guru, who I learned about from Birchbox) curls her hair. I really like her hair, and it actually looks like a similar texture to mine (though it’s much longer, and I’m pretty sure she has extensions), so I have been hoping she would share some her of secrets with me! This makes me want to re-visit my hair wands!
Kate from The Small Things blog, (which I love) has my same hair type and she rough dries her hair, too! But obviously a bit better than I do, so I might follow her techniques the next time I dry my hair! She is a professional hair stylist, so I tend to trust what she has to say! Also, I have read her blog off and on for several years, so I’m a fan of hers anyway.
She really likes to use a flat iron in a lot of her styles, so I am watching her techniques. This is an easy (for her- time will tell if it’s easy for me!) straight hair look, that still has volume. She makes it look so easy!
This next video looks like an easy curling iron video that even I could do! One of the things I struggle with is how to tease my hair and she does it really liberally. Maybe I will be brave enough to try!
I fell down the rabbit hole watching Kate’s videos and I loved this fancy pony tail tutorial. Maybe I can even do that also! I really need to work on my teasing. You should really check out her blog, and not just her YouTube channel. She offers tons of beauty and hair tips there! I love her most recent post about her vanity. Swoon.
I hope you enjoyed some of these videos. Is there another straight haired YouTube gal I need to be following to teach me about hair? Help!
xo,
Lauren
