Y’all, this is one of my favorite Play! by Sephora boxes! The subscription box life is hard, y’all- You don’t always receive a winner. But this month, I feel like I hit the Play! by Sephora jackpot!

Play! by Sephora

Price: $10/month

Box Type: This is a beauty box that contains deluxe samples (and occasionally full-sized) products that can be found at Sephora.

Why you’ll love it: Ummmm, did you see it’s all fun products that come from Sephora? Some boxes will send you random products from brands you’ve never heard of before but Play! by Sephora will only send you brands from their own store – basically all high end fun things you are excited to try! Here’s a breakdown of the benefits:

  • The awesome products, of course.
  • The $10 you spend earns you Beauty Insider points if you are already part of their rewards program. (I’m VIB Rouge because I clearly have A Problem buying makeup.)
  • Each month you will also receive a card that you can bring into Sephora that will earn you 50 additional bonus points on your purchase!
  • The PLAY! BOOK outlines how to use the products, similar to the Allure Beauty Box Mini Mag

I really loved the box this month, so let’s see what we got!

OK, we were spoiled with the February bag, but the products, y’all. THE PRODUCTS.

Living Proof Full Dry Volume Blast ($15-$29): Yay! When I first got this, I assumed this was the dry shampoo, but this is their volumizing stuff and I actually already have the full-size version and I like it a lot! I don’t love it nearly as much as my Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray… but it’s like half the cost, so I am making this work. It definitely gives my hair texture but I don’t feel like it gives me the amount of volume I think I was expecting, you know what I mean? I had high hopes for this! And I definitely make it work. But it’s possible I’m not even using it right? Unclear. But I’m glad I have this small size for my gym bag. My gym bag is heavy, y’all. I’m not a low-maintenance girl.

And as a note- this bottle of Full Dry Volume Blast is sold for $15 at Sephora. So it’s amazing getting this in a $10 box!

Chloe Fleur de Parfum ($28-$132): I don’t love receiving perfume samples as a general rule, but I really love this. Wait. I think I always say that I don’t love receiving perfume samples but then I always love them. Maybe I do enjoy perfume samples? Anyway. I’m really big into rose scents and this has rose notes in it. Official description:

This unique floral composition plunges into an infusion of rose petals. Fresh notes of verbena softened by freesia unveil a tender rose heart enlightened by cherry blossoms and warmed with soft woods for a soft and feminine signature.

I’m really into this. Honestly, I think I am going to buy this next! I recently bought the Elizabeth and James Nirvana Bourbon because they sent me that sample in a recent Play! by Sephora box. Their strategy is working. After I finish that, I really think I am going to buy this!

Benefit Watt’s Up Cream-to-Powder Highlighter ($30): I’ve tried this highlighter in the past but I always kind of forget about it so I’m glad that they sent this to me again. As you see from the swatch below, it’s a pretty, natural champagne-type color.

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick in Golden Pink ($30): I really like this shadow stick color- it’s a great neutral that would also make a great inner eye highlight. This would also look really pretty dabbed on the lids on a “no-makeup makeup” kind of day.

OK, I have 3 swatches here. It was hard to figure out how to get them both to catch the light and I still don’t think I did a good job. So it’s the Bobbi Brown Cream Shadow Stick on top, Benefit Watt’s Up in the middle and the Bobbi Brown Cream Shadow Stick again on the bottom.

Josie Maran Surreal Skin Argan Finishing Balm ($36): This is honestly a product I don’t really understand. Like, I really don’t know what this does at all! They say it’s a primer and makeup finisher in one. However, the texture is a little thick so I don’t think I would use this as a primer, but I also wouldn’t put like a balm-y product on my face after I am finished with my makeup? This does have a pretty sheen to it that I couldn’t get to photograph well so I think I might keep this around when I’m doing a more casual weekend look. I might layer this over (or maybe try under?) the Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint. If y’all use this finishing balm and understand how to use it, please let me know! I need help!

GLAMGLOW GLOWSTARTER Mega Illuminating Moisturizer ($49): This is a really pretty moisturizer that has the slightest tint but it is very illuminating! This might be nice under a more full coverage foundation to give your skin a little more radiance!

Final Grade: A

This is is one of my very favorite Play! by Sephora boxes by far! I am going to use every product in here, even that weird Josie Maran finishing balm. (I’m going to figure it out!) This box was worth well more than the $10 price tag. The Living Proof Volumizing Spray is $15 at Sephora! And then we get so many other fun things, too!

Seriously, this box is a no-brainer if you love Sephora! Click here if you want to subscribe!
